Diana has been in for a week but was very distressed initially and didn't want to come out of her kennel, so we left her to settle. And here she is. She is still a little nervous but once out of her kennel was very friendly! Lovely girl who needs a little time to get to know you but once she does you're a friend for life! If you'd like more info, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road. Open daily 10.30 - 4pm

Please say 'Hi' to Harrison! This handsome young adventurer has only just come in and is still under assessment, but seems to have found his paws already, and was as happy and bouncy as could be! He walks like John Wayne, and looks like he could do with putting on a bit of weight, but nothing seemed to bother him when he came out for his pictures, he was an absolutely delight! Seems like such a friendly boy, he loved attention, simply lapped it up! He hasn't been aged yet, but we don't think he's much more than a big puppy. Harrison will be available for rehoming from 19th July. If you'd like more info, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7days a week, 10.30 - 4pm

After a short time in his new home, Harrison has been returned.
His owners say that he lunged and mouthed - this may have been due to the fact that he is really a big pup and was still over excited at being out of kennels and hadn't settled and got into a routine in his new home with his new owners. The Home will be looking for an owner that is an experienced dog owner (preferably bull breed experience) with positive training methods and no children

Really don't know why she is still there? Went to see her and they said she could not be with young children, not sure why as she came to the see my 2 and 4 year old and was more than happy for them to stroke and pat her, she even liked their hands............... We have had big dogs all the boys lives and were looking to replace our 16 yr old lab who had to be put down and our 12 yr rough collie who past away.... Glenn

I'm sorry Glenn but I think you'll find that virtually all Rescues are very careful with what dogs they will rehome to families with children, and I know that most of them won't rehome to families with children under 5rs old at all. Although they get to know the dogs well, they are strays and their background is not known in most cases. It sounds to me, I could be wrong, that the Home have not said that you cannot adopt at all but that you will have to wait and take their advise as to what dog will be right for you and your family and that your family is right for that dog.

I had the pleasure of meeting lovely Harrison today! ;D I have a huge soft spot for this big dope, he's so handsome! He is like bambi on ice which is so sweet and did initially take treats roughly but after a few emphasised 'ouch!' noises he responded very quickly and was then taking them oh so gently ;D He's a quick learner for sure! Such a loveable lump with so much to give, he's a heart stealer! Here's some pics from today...
