Meet Princess: Princess is a gorgeous girl who came into the home last week. Princess was very very nervous when she first came in so staff have been working with her to get her settled so she can find her paws and nothing is too overwhelming. She is doing really well and if you are down at the home you might find she comes up and says hello. We took her out for a little stroll and were completely smitten, she is still very shy but will stick close enough to you if there are other things she is not so sure about on her walk. and look at those beautiful ears! I know I am personally really looking forward to seeing this beautiful lass coming out of her shell. If you'd like more info, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm.

Poor lovely Harrison was over on page 2 all by himself!! I must say I am surprised to see him still there?? I thought he would have been snapped up again?
I will try and walk him this week and get some cuddles in!

Rest Easy Harrison, Diana and PrincessIt's no secret that last week was a particularly tough one for the staff and the dogs at CDH Between Tuesday 5th and Thursday 7th, they had 14 dogs brought into the Home. And the only dog to leave was Munch. The staff are amazingly creative at making space, chasing up reserves, doubling dogs in kennels where they can, trying their hardest to return dogs to owners if they can be traced, but they are not miracle workers Sadly, on Friday, the situation became impossible, and the staff had absolutely no choice but to let 3 of our beautiful dogs go Harrison, Diana and Princess were all given a last walk, and then led to the vet's room for their final journey. Diana had been in kennels since the beginning of June, and Harrison since mid July. Princess hadn't been in for very long, but all three dogs were struggling with life in kennels, and as time went on, things were becoming more and more difficult for them. I know that in every local authority pound, and in most rehoming centres, a decision would have been made about dogs like Harrison, Diana and Princess a while ago, but the staff and volunteers continued to hold out hope that 'the right home' just might come along. The right homes didn't, and we ask that you whisper a prayer for Harrison, Diana and Princess tonight.

This is so sad I don't envy the staff at CDH who make these decisions, they do a great job and they keep as many dogs safe as they can until we come to get them and give them homes. This goes for all the Volunteers too without everybody working together far less dogs would find homes. Rest easy Harrison, Diana and Princess. Sparky Dog and I will have a hug and think of you. Jx

I'm confident that the home did all they could for these 3 pups, but to say I'm gutted is an understatement. I'm sorry that the 3 of you were let down by our so called 'nation of dog lovers' in the first place, but grateful that you experienced what it was like to be cared for and looked after by the good guys at the home. Rest in peace gorgeous ones and run free. xx
