Yey - we done one
Friends held their first ever Street Collection today, kindly organised by Bern, and what a fabulous day we had
We started off at 11 o'clock, I have to say, town was
very quiet, but it meant we had time to get the coffees in, and Rachel and Sharron came to join us for the early shift.
Bas nearly got him self 'rehomed' whilst I wasn't looking
and Rex, who came along to add a bit of majesty & dignity soon got the hang of this fundraising thing....
..... and was pulling in the crowds in no time!
(for a small price)
Midday, we were joined by Lynne, Gutsy and the lil guy who only speaks Spanish
....and it was amazing how extremely polite all the dogs were, introductions were most cordial...
'How do you dooooo' (check out Gutsy modelling his new Haute Couteur Friends coat -
very nice)!
'Very pleased to meet you'!
And Abs was tickled to bits to hear a dog bark in Spanish!
... and not averse to a bit of showing off in
Bailey's new coat ;D That's what bruvvers are for innit Abs? Going through their wardrobes and nicking the best stuff
The nice thing about centre of town is that there are lots of eateries, so we don't go hungry...
Gutsy, who has never been fed
in his life eyeing up Carol's donut .... (nice hoodie Carol) ;D
...and in the afternoon, things got a whole lot busier, and our new four legged fundraisers were soon charming the socks off passers by...
Sadie, who took everything in her stride with her mum Caz...
and there were plenty enough doglets to go around ....
Kath & Amory, taking turns and talking turkey with lil Spanish guy (Lynne - what
is his name)?
Mahoosive
to Cheryl, who came to add a bit of 'glamour to the clamour'...
..cos we did attract
a lot of attention in the afternoon ...
And, at the end of the day, we counted up the pennies, and peeps, thank you sooooo much to everyone who came, we raised a mahoosive
But, more to the point, we chitted and chatted with
loads of lovely passers by today, and some of them were
very interested in rehoming some of our doglets
We had a very long chat with Cath from Llandough, who is going to the Home to see Squidge tomorrow, and a lovely couple who went away with a note of our lovely staffies, with Pork Chop and Freddie top of their 'WLTM' list
Ooooh! I'm very
and chuffed to bitz at the turnout from peeplets and doglets today
Thank you to Bern for organising this, start to finish, and to everyone who came to help, and to all the generous passer by-ers who stopped to say hello, meet our dogs, and chat about the Home.
Special mention to our new crafty corner recruits, (you know who you are - looking forward to meeting your mum too)! the lovely lady who has offered to groom, her partner (and everyone else) who is marching down to the Home to get themselves registered as dog walkers....
to everyone - I think today was *a bit* of a success all in all ;D
