Jan and I have the pleasure of offering a home to Mutley (formerly Nobby), we have been to CDH several times recently to meet the dogs and take him for a walk, then socialise him with our Lovely Amber. This is a pic of the two of them enjoying a nice stroll today. The first couple of times we went for a walk, Nobbie did the usual Staffie thing and tried his best to drag me for a couple of miles out and back. Today there was a marked difference and it was amazing how well they got on together for only their second meeting and were quite happy to mooch along together and if one or the other wandered sideways, the other was looking to see where they had gone. So when the sad time came to put Amber back in the van before saying goodbye to Nobby he was looking to see where his butty nhad gone and I think the two of them will be inseperable very soon. We pick him up on sunday and will post some more pics up as he settles in to his new home, at this time of year especially it is sad to think of all the dogs down there on these freezing nights, its just lovely to see all the enthusiastic volanteers walking them in the morning and seeing the dogs out for their strolls they look so much happier than when they are in their little cages. We wanted to make a cash donation to the hometo recognise the good work they do and wondered what the best way to do that was, can we do this sunday when we pick up Mutley? Steve Griff

Ps poor old Amber is now on a diet after being informed she is a tad overloved! The Vet didnt mention that we had to cut down on her food after being speyed, in fact she seemed even more hungry than usual and has got a bit chunky despite plenty of walking! So we have altered her diet a bit and hopefully Mutley will fill out a bit too as he looks painfully thin and we will have two happy doggies

Mutley is settling in nicely now and its not been a week yet. There were some fireworks along the way, but we really have to thank all the staff at the home for all the advice al the way, helping 'meet' the two of them and advice on how to introduce them into our home, it seemed like world war three at first when Mutley came home as Amber had been fine until then, but one night in his crate and they were good to go ever since. Theres nothing like real fire to curl up in front of

I spoke too soon on the settling down front, we had a major problem today! Some advice would be appreciated, they have had a few squabbles and things seemed to be returning to normal, but this afternoon Mutley came and cwtched up to me on the sofa and Amber took offence and instead of the usual squabble that I can break up and settle down it was a riot teeth bared real nasty, I got bitten in the process, I couldnt drag Mutley off Amber as he had clamped down on her neck and ear and wouldnt let go, I couldnt drag them apart or lift him away as I was picking Amber up by the neck at the same time, i couldnt prize his teeth away and she was flailing and snapping at the same time. Luckily Jan was around and managed to wrap a towel round amber so I could just deal with Mutley but I am still going to be needing a tetanus tomorrow! Any ideas as we had to lock one away in the cage again when we popped out this afternoon and we need to get them more settled for everyones sake.
