Junior is a stunning young American Bull Dog, and has only just come in to the Home. He was extremely exuberant and playful when he came out for his pictures today, but was sooooooo gentle when he was offered treats. He is a very big boy, has the bluest eyes ever, and he's got a soft whiskery look around his face..... sooooooooo handsome! Junior will be available for rehoming from 13 July if he isn't reclaimed by his owner. If you'd like more info, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road. Open daily 10.30 - 4pm

I took this handsome boy to the Pets At Home Meet & Greet today He is extremely strong on the lead but hey, he is a strong muscular boy! He is in very good shape and condition and his eyes are absolutely stunning, they certainly got a lot of attention at PAH!! After his initial excitement at being out he walked fairly well although did like to play around a bit with his lead. He was easily distracted from this with a treat, which he took like a true gentleman! He does a fantastic sit and paw and spent a lot of the meet and greet just lolling around ;D He LOVES a cwtch and a good scratch and is more than happy to be stroked by anyone, he's not fussy! On the whole he was very calm around the other dogs at PAH, he was showing a bit of a "laddish" interest in Sadie, but she is one pretty girl Again though, he was distracted from her with a treat or a toy. He walked well on Penarth Road with all the busy traffic going passed, and didnt show any interest in the bikes or joggers that passed us on our way to PAH. I would say Junior has been a loved pet at some point, he is in great condition, doesnt seem to have any issues and is just great!! I really hope he finds a loving home soon. Good luck Junior x This is not a toy tongue - its real!!! lovely markings on this handsome boy

Big bump for Junior! Took him out a few weeks ago and forgot to do a write up, but stumbled across the pics today. He is a lovable boy, but very strong and pulls quite a bit, but I am sure this is due to a lack of training and extra energy from being in kennels. He does a lovely sit though, so I found that asking him to sit when he was pulling too much helped, although results didn't last long. He really enjoyed treats and gives you his full attention when you have a treat in your hand so I think he will respond well to treat orientated training.

I am shocked this lovely dog is still there. I thought he would have been snapped up.
Great to see someone interested in him Stephen, I don't know about him being left while you work but with mine I leave bones, toys and the radio on (not sure if this helps) and keep anything valuable out of his way! Sometimes my father calls during the day too. In my opinion, 2 days when you are at work plus a walk before you leave is better than being in the kennel 24/7......and he would get the love he deserves too.
Good luck!

Junior is a great big puppy and he really needs to be spending his formative youth on his own forever sofa. Personally, I wouldn't recommend leaving any dog on their own all day, most rehoming organisations would recommend not more than 4 hours without a comfort break, especially a younster who has still got a few life-lessons to learn There are lots of ways to make the day more interesting for your dog if you do have to leave them whilst you are work, a good run before you leave is a must, and maybe think about feeding from a Kong Wobbler or other interactive toy whilst you are out. Could you maybe get someone to pop in at lunchtimes to give him a bit of a break? 9-5 is a very long day. Bored dogs can easily become frustrated dogs, and Junior is such a bright young man, not your 'couch potato' type at all ;D I'm sure if you speak with the staff they will be able to advise you. Keep us informed! Susie x

I have to give huge bump for Junior! - this stunning young man deserve a loving home - while we where looking in the kennels - i called his name, and woken him up (sorry Junior ) - he came to see me for a scratch - and then returned to his kennel bed .... I thought he didn't like me very much (and i wouldn't be surprised if he did ) but he went to his kennel to bring me a toy.....and then i cried ... i would love to take Junior home as i like his longish fur sticking out in few places - he is out of ordinary-but im not as strong as Junior is

I met Junior today, he was out with his walker (who had lovely blue eyes just like Junior At first we stood back as he is such a big boy and was so excited to be out of his kennel, but as SOON as we approached him for a scratch he calmed right down and loved a cuddle!! He is absolutely super gorgeous and Junior I hope you find your forever sofa soon!! Xxx
