I'm absolutely devastated to hear about Mr Jingles. I had the privilege of going out for a walk with him and Ava before Christmas. He was absolutely lovely and very gentle towards lovely Ava. My husband was keen to adopt him several months ago but we have a 17 year old terrier and there was concern that he would be able to live with her. Now I so wish that I'd had courage and worked it out. I'll regret that decision for ever. Mr Jingles, you will never be forgotten - and never doubt that, like all the dogs, you really matter.

Oh Garrick, I totally feel for you You mustn't in any way feel bad about not adopting the lovely boy. I dont think Mr Jingles would have been happy living with another dog and you also have to consider your own dog, especially as she is a golden oldie, she wouldnt need the upset at her age. Big big hugs to you xxx

Hi Becky
Thank you very much for your kind words - they were appreciated.
I'm probably being a little selfish as I didn't have anywhere near as much to do with Mr Jingles as yourself, the volunteers and the shelter staff. I'm sure you must all be shattered and you have my sympathy.
There was just something about this boy which really touched me.....and I'm sure many others.
We may only have a short time with these dogs - but it's golden time.
Thank you again

Still think about Mr Jingles at least once a week. Maybe dogs that are in imminent danger of being pts should be red-flagged and then given 24hrs grace for someone to give them a home. I guess I'm not the only person who assumes such lovely dogs WILL be noticed and be saved - or who would be prepared to swoop in and save a particular dog, if circumstances allowed.
Still in our hearts Mr Jingles. x

I know what you mean about Mr Jingles too. I think about him regularly, as well as Twizzle - and my husband gave me a memory star with each of their names on this Christmas, to hang on our tree. It was a big boost.
On the storage box for each star it says 'While the star itself may be gone, its light shines on for ever' It might be a bit schmaltzy but, frankly, I don't care, I think it's true when it comes to these wonderful dogs.
I'd like to help if there's an imminent pts danger too - I know Friends and CDH have to have the sensible heads on with these decisions, but I hope they know they've got back-up to do this if needed.

Although fully supportive of the staff who have to make such heartbreaking decisions, if there is anything we can do to prevent a pooch being pts I'd happily help...just not sure how!!
I know CDH doesn't foster dogs but perhaps taking a pooch for a couple/few days respite until a kennel becomes available again? No doubt there are legal/logistical obstacles but could they be worked through? This has probably been considered before and I'm being a bit naive.....any other ideas?

I also think of Mr Jingles and Twiz. Mr Jingles (welling up now) happened when I first became a vol and didn't realise the way things worked at the home.
