Hi Becky - hoping to come tomorrow to cuddle Scout and take him home hopefully :-) praying for weather to be clear enough to Cardiff and back! I notice you are a terrier lady ;-) and I believe Scout still has his bits. I've never owned an uncastrated male - do you think he will scent mark? I will get him done at some point but maybe should keep him on lead for few weeks or do you think he will be clingy? Or is he well adjusted behaviourally, your comments would be appreciated.
Kindest regards
Tracey x

Hi
Couldn't get to home to collect Scout today as planned due to weather and bridge closures on M4 - very frustrating! I am working tomorrow but weather permitting I will be down Tuesday afternoon (working am) to fetch him! :-) . I have telephoned staff to explain so praying the roads are ok

Hi Tracey
I've got my fingers crossed for you and Scout for Tuesday ;D It would be so lovely to see him go to what sounds like a great home with you!
With regard to your questions, I'm sure Becky will be along to help if she can, but you can ask the staff about him when you get there as they will be able to provide some good advice. With regard to him being well adjusted behaviourally it is probably pretty hard to tell because in a kennel environment the dogs can be very different to when they get home (see Twizzle's thread!), but he seems like a calm well adjusted chap so I'm sure he'll adjust just fine to a home like yours ;D
Good luck!

Sorry Tracey, I only just saw your post Saturday about Scout!! I have to be completely honest, I have only ever owned one male dog (always seem to have chosen bitches) and he was castrated at 6 months but has never scent marked so I really dont know the answer. From what I have got to know of him, he does seem behaviouraly "sound" and a nice confident (but not cocky!) boy. It is difficult for us to know how the dogs are going to behave in the Home, will they be clean etc as unfortunately The Home does not have the option of being able to foster the dogs. The staff would know how clean he is in his kennel though. My most recent adoption was Pickle my JRT and we had her from CDH in March. We think she had been living as an outdoor dog and wasnt house trained when we got her. Within a week though she had got it and knew exactly where she needed to toilet and we havnt had an accident from her since. I am completely biased (I have 3 of my own!) but these JRT's are clever little dogs I really hope you guys can make it over to meet him tomorrow! Im sure the staff have said, but the roads in Cardiff to the Home are really clear now so as long as you can get across the bridge, you will be fine xx

Hi, thanks for getting back to me. I have spoken to the home this morning and all being well (roads are clear here too now, phew) I'll be down to fetch Scout tomorrow afternoon (have to work in the morning). Should be there by 3.30pm. Thank you for your comments on behaviour - I am sure it will be absolutely fine. Can't wait to meet him.

Grggghh Oh the weather! Couldn't get to Scout today advised by Summerleaze driver who came to my vet clinic that weather was bad and not to attempt the drive :-(( so frustrating - feel so helpless but will attempt againThursday if possible - spoke to the home they understand - it was snowing there when I rang this morning! It's now blanketed Marlborough again where I live! Please be assured I will be there as soon as I can make the journey. I'm totally committed to giving Scout a home I really have fallen for him. More cuddles please til I get there! Thank you xx

Aw! Tracey I really feel for you! You seem to have really fallen for this boy and it's the darn weather that's holding you up! Better to stay safe though the roads are pretty bad out there. Hope you manage to get there on Thursday. I'm stuck myself otherwise I'd pop down to the home and give him a cuddle for you. He was such a sweetie on our walk last week. Keep us posted! xx
