Terrier lovers, prepare to lose your hearts - Marley has landed Marley is one happy little bunny, inquisitive, lively and such a smiley boy! He's got tons of personality, and although he absolutely loves to play and loves his treats - he is sooooooo focussed on people, and just wants to please! He has clearly had some basic training, but showing off his sits is just puppy play to Marley - Easy peasy...... He obviously wanted to show us what he could do, so we set up some 'jumps' and he got the hang of it in a nanosecond! Clever boy Marley! Playing peek-a-boo around the trees...... Marley is available for rehoming from 15th April, and if you'd like to know more please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7days a week, 10.30 - 4pm

I've had two JRT crosses and what can I say, if you have bags of energy but also like a cwtchy lap dog then this is the breed for you. I didn't realise Marley was still at the home..don't be put off with the high energy, with a low protein diet and plenty of walks they make perfect companions :-)

Well we had some fun the garden today with Marley, I can't for the life of me figure out why he hasn't got his own home yet, he is a little diamond Such a happy boy, he trotted along nicely out on a walk, and every time we stopped he came over for some affection, and often rolled over for belly rubs ;D Some piccies from garden time ;D a paw you say? ok then... cuddles with aunty Steph and with aunty Susie I think it's fair to say he stole a bit of our hearts and we were all very sad to see him go back to his kennel Lush boy ;D ;D

I wanted to give a bump up for this beautiful little boy.
Marley's pictures make me smile. He's a lovely looking little chap and I'm sure must be wondering if he's ever going to get a home of his own.
It's stressful for dogs in kennels even though the staff and FOCDH volunteers are amazing. It would be so amazing if he could find someone to harness all that energy and the quirks that make terriers so maddeningly wonderful!
Good Luck Marley.......really wish it could be Marley and Me! x

I don't think Marley's case is helped by his location in the kennels.
Although we adopted Milo, we actually originally went to see Marley but the rottie in the cage next door (with a sign on it saying something along the lines of "Beware - This dog guards his cage") shot out to the front of the cage and barked VERY loudly and continuously at us as we were trying to get a look at Marley. Because Marley was then focussed entirely on the rottie and the barking from the rottie was non-stop and absolutely deafening - and more than a little intimidating for my wife and little boy - we just didn't want to linger.
Around the corner we came across Milo, who was the complete opposite - too scared to come out of his bed. We asked to have a look at him outside so we could see him properly and just fell in love with him straight away but we could just as easily have adopted Marley had things been different.
I'm sure the rottie (Tyson?) is lovely if you have the right experience but if you go to the dogs' home looking for a small family dog as we did, Marley's location in the kennels is definitely off-putting.
I hope this helps!

Good point Jaime. Lovely sketch kathleenj and Lisa - I don't blame you for falling for him. Just can't understand why he's still there! Poor Marley

Has Marley had any applications? Is there any issue with his Behaviour? He looks beautiful and seems just adorable!

Little dogs like Marley generally have more applications from potential forever homes than they need, and they do tend to fly out, but Marley has been dogged by demons pretty much since he came in, and as time has gone on he has become more and more unpredictable.
We were made aware by the Manager of the Home on Thursday of last week that due to guarding and aggression issues in his kennel and around food, they were very concerned about his rehoming opportunities. The staff did not feel comfortable about rehoming him directly from CDH, and they have been trying to find a safe rescue space for him. Apparently he has shown some extremely worrying behaviours towards the staff whilst in his kennel and especially around resource guarding.
However, on Saturday there was a very serious incident, Marley bit the hand of a walker quite badly, and she had to be taken to A&E. It was not a warning snap, she suffered multiple puncture and tear wounds.
The last update we had on Marley is that the staff were going to confer with the vets to discuss what his options are. Obviously the first thing they will want to do is rule out any medical problems which may be causing Marley's behaviour.
If there are no underlying medical issues, Marley's future is extremely uncertain. The Council and the Home take an extremely responsible approach to rehoming strays, they cannot and will not knowingly rehome a dog who is this unpredictable and could cause serious harm.
The staff have been unable to find a rescue to take him who can offer him the behavioural help he needs. We will of course keep everyone informed.
