Well I would like to chat about the callous councils we have in west Wales who condone Mass Puppy Farming. Can you imagine 200 dogs being cared for by 1 full time worker and a part timer? Is it possible? and looking after 900 sheep!!! Have you ever thought about the conditions these poor breeding dogs live in??? Log on to Puppy Love Campaigns. Councils know there will be new legislation from WAG shortly but still in the face of that will recommend acceptance of applications that will never meet the new regulations. Speak to your AM's these new regs must be strong enough to put Mass Breeders out of business. Well that is my mornings chat
I visited the dogs home on \Wednesday last and was shown around by Sarah (thanks a lot) It was interesting, the premisis has improved since I was last there. I noticed at the rear of the building a an area of waste ground. This could be transformed into a good space for dogs to exercise. We could even site a porto-cabin for the public to be able to talk over and introduce themselves to animals they may wish to adopt. No planning permision is required to site a porto-cabin, and it would be a cheap way of acheiving a confidential area to talk.
They're great ideas John,a place to let the dogs out of their kennels for a bit is badly needed I think. Yes,thankyou very much for the photos Michelle, they help a lot to find the dogs new homes. Fingers crossed for all of them!
I visited Coopers Field event this afternoon an took my dog Sacha with me. We met a few people including Jacko, it was pleasant to see him again I have known him quite a long time. We had an enjoyable time and my dog is now laying flat out asleep on her own rug. I have a friend who is interested in joining in with us, so I shall bring him along on Wednesday evening to the meeting. All the best..
boo hoo my lovely foster Big Billy has a touch of kennel cough so I can't take him to the Hope Rescue show on Monday - would've been great for socialising him and people would see what a lovely boy he was compared to the very scared boy that was in the pound
I don't know how many of our members are aware of the horrendous practice of Mass puppy farming that goes on in North and West Wales. I posted some time ago about this but it raised very little interest. Well the puppy farm planning application that I was speaking about has now been accepted by Carmarthen C C even tho it was pointed out that there is new legislation by WAG due out about OCT. To CCC that was totally discounted. The main priority was to get it passed come what may. I was at the meeting and what I heard shocked me; it was stated that the farm had automated feeding installed and it was suggested that this was the way forward in puppy farming. Does that shock you?? Dogs and puppies fed and watered by machine like a row battery hens, no human contact, how on earth can these dogs become balanced and socialised?. What happens then the dogs go to unsuspecting new owners maybe via a pet shop, take their lovely cute pet home and shortly find the pet is not so cute after all. Eventually where does it end up ? in a dogs home or rescue. Some time these puppy farmed dogs are so badly adjusted that they have to be put down. Can you condone this vile trade? I can't. Can You?? If not write to your AM stressing your concern at these farms and demand that when the new legislation is out it is strong enough to control these farming County Councils who only think about profit for their friends and ride rough shod over legislation. If you need more information I can direct you to sites that will certainly shock you.
They're forecasting gales and horrid weather for virtually the whole of Sept. We're spending the month in Wales in our camper van. Should be fun ;D - just hope its fine for Pembrey Show, always have a great time there, we're camping there for 3 days
Edit - Meant to ask how Big Billy is Penny, has he recovered? Hope yours havn't gone down with it.
