Please say Hi to Roxy! Roxy was a little shy and unsure of herself when we brought her out... here was lots of 'hide and seek' behind the trees for a while, but before long she began to come out of her shell. She does seem to be quite a sensitive girlie though, and responds much better to soft voices and predictable movements. Roxy enjoyed goofing around, she loves you to throw a tuggie, but she can't catch for toffee! Once she has possession though, she's loves nothing more than playing bowing at you, then running past you at the speed of light! Roxy is available for rehoming from 4th May. If you'd like to know more please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7days a week, 10.30 - 4pm

Did they really write that Roxy was shy and sensitive? - not the lady who was out with me today! She was full of herself and not in the least bit fazed by traffic, cycles or people. Although she did bark at a couple of runners to get their attention, fortunately one of them had two Staffies at home, so was only too happy to give her the fussing she required. She was far more interested in sniffs than treats, but did do a very nice sit and paw when asked. I can see why she had so much fun in the garden; once we were on the Ely trail I put her on a double length lead to give her a bit more freedom and she loved dashing from side to side sniffing everything her nose could reach.

We have some very, very sad news; Roxy is now at Rainbow Bridge Life hasn't been fair to you precious girl, run free and happy, taking all our thoughts and prayers with you. Anyone who met you at the Home will never forget you, particularly the staff who have taken such good care of you and have loved you like you were one of their own. Like all Council run pounds, the Home is inspected very regularly by especially trained Police officers who assess each dog as to whether they are 'type' under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The Act prohibits 4 types of dogs and it is illegal to own them without specific exemption from a court. The dogs are judged on their physical characteristics and whether they match the description of a prohibited 'type' if so the dog is PTS. It is such heartbreaking news, but on recent inspection Roxy was 'typed' and has been put to sleep This is the law of the land, there are no options, and the law has to be followed. This is happening in pounds all across the country and sadly, is not the first time it has happened at the Home and we have no doubt that it will not be the last time A great number of people are campaigning to have this law changed, arguing that it is the owners that produce dangerous dogs, not the actual breed itself. One of the best known and most influential is Breed Not Deed, please take a moment to check out their page here www.deednotbreed.org.uk/If you feel strongly about what has happened to Roxy and so many other dogs before her, please show them your support. Sleep tight gorgeous girl

So sad and unjust. Such a lovely healthy dog and such a ridiculous law - definitely time it was changed.

This is such sad news and so wrong. The photo of her waiting to catch the 'ragger' so reminds me of my beloved Buster Boo who sadly lost his fight against dementia almost two years ago. If only she could have found a home before the visit things would have been so different for this lovely girl. Run free sweetheart
