Suzie always says CDH don't permit fostering, but I still think it's an idea worth chipping away with.
If I remember right they can sign over a dog to a foster organisation, like Oldies for instance, but the dog then becomes the 'property' of Oldies who become solely responsible and CDH would no longer have any involvement and Oldies become liable for the vets bills etc.
I do still think though that it might be an option worth pursuing, if Kate for example would be happy to foster on behalf of Oldies for this particular dog?
But I don't think CDH allow individuals to foster their dogs while they remain liable for them. Summat to do with liability insurance etc.

I'll get some senior specific food and drop it down today. Anyone got any recommendations?

Elemoy that's really sweet of you. I have no personal experience in caring for an older dog, but I know Hills Science Plan make really good dog food and they have a 'senior' range. When Kara gets a dickie tummy from something, Hills 'sensitive stomach' food always puts her right. It's not cheap though. I only buy it when it's on offer, or I mix it 50:50 with a generic (more affordable) complete food.

We used to give our old Collie Arden Grange Senior food. It's a kibble but the only place I've seen it in shops is Aqua Dogs (the Hydrotherapy place) or Waitrose. We used to get it online. It's what the Dogs' Trust put her on. It seemed to do the trick.

That's really nice of you. I've never had a senior so I don't know we avoid bakers food cause it gives ours a bad stomach and bright orange poo!

Pets at Home were doing Hills for £10 a bag (normally £18-ish), which is when I stocked up. Not sure offer is still on though. With the PAH meet & greet tomorrow, I wonder if we could sweet talk them into giving us some??

Well, i'm going to be at PAH later getting a new car harness as Millie thought she'd 'free' Morgan by chewing through his so i'll grab some Hills while i'm there to be going on with.

I walked the very lovely Puzzle GIRL earlier today and what a joy to make her acquaintance. Well if our Chad is the Sean Connery of gentleman dawggies, then Puzzle has to be our Helen Mirren of dawggie ladies. ;D The initial sad face very quickly cheered up once there were rays of sunshine, tweety birdies and people and dogs to greet. We strolled at ambling pace down the road, but once she spotted some young ladies walking Penny, she upped the pace and wanted to join in all the fun. We met a number of dogs on the way, young Penny the Collie pup, George the brindle cross, Tyson the Rottie and Pam was out with Harvey the EBT. Lady Puzzle is by no means one of those grumpy older lady dogs. She is happy to sniff and be sniffed and her little ears pricked up with the girls jumping and laughing with young Penny, wanting to join in and having a little puppy moment herself. She was quite partial to the soft treats which I brought her, as obviously her teeth aren't the best anymore at crunching stuff. She is a dream to walk on the lead, just strolls next to you, gives you a "this is nice!" smile from time to time. Kara donated a pre-chewed tennis ball (those are the best apparently!) and a bit of fun was had with that too, playing with it and then carrying it home. Here are some pics: She is a gorgeous, lovely old girl and our worries of no one wanting her due to her age might be unfounded. I had a brief chat with Maria when I picked her up and she had one reserve, and when we came back an hour later she had two reserves. ;D I hope a nice new forever retirement sofa materialises soon for this lovely lady.

Conny, what wonderful photos of lovely Puzzle. Even though the story of Puzzle ending up here is sad, it's impossible to look at your pics without smiling. ;D

Awww, lovely Puzzle. We love our old collies. If nothing works out, then Puzzle would be very welcome to come to Wiccaweys.
