Ted, Ted, Ted! His name suits him as he really is a huge teddy bear!! He walks really well, although he did like to walk in front of me so after tripping over him a couple of times I put him on a shorter lead and he walked beautifully at my side. We passed by a number of other dogs and whilst he grumbled a little he was fine...however, he became very interested in a lady rottie!!!! ;-)) We stopped for a few minutes to partake in a few treats and boy oh boy does he love his treats. Even though he got a bit excited over them he still sat and took them gently......and emptied my pockets!!! My reward was a huge cwtch of the big fella, so he can empty my pockets ANY time!!! Ted is such a big gentle chap and lovely to be with. He richly deserves a forever sofa. Attachments:

I had the pleasure of spending some time with this hunk of love in the garden yesterday, he is just gorgeous!! He was quite happy just mooching around and having a sniff of the trees to see which of his neighbours had been in He did have a little play with the tough tyre toy and it was just lovely to see this big fella having a run around He does a great sit and was very gentle taking his treats. Ted is a lovely boy, he is affectionate and really enjoyed a nice back scratch (don't we all Ted!) If big dogs are your thing, please consider Ted, he is cracking!! Ted - what do you think of the facilities at B&B CDH??

If you give the home a ring and speak to the staff they can give you the information you need.
You would need to bring your resident dog to the dogs home and the staff would help you to make an introduction between Ted and your dog, this is usually done by parallel walking. The staff would then be able to assess And advise whether it would be suitable to rehome ted with your family.
The number you need to call is 029 2071 1243
Good luck

As a very general rule, a male/female mix is better, as they don't compete over the same things. But this is a general observation, and depends very much on the individual dog.
Ted has always been amazing when he is out on his walks, he is very attentive to his walker, and totally ignores other dogs. But the walkers all respect each others space, and we have seen Ted get quite agitated if people have let their dogs invade his space.
Bella (K13) and Bessy (K24) might like to meet your boy! Bella has been introduced to other dogs, she is a little lively, but very friendly and sociable. Bessy hasn't been introduced to other dogs yet, but she is extremely well behaved and calm on her lead, she walks like a dream, and has never reacted to dogs around her at all.
Good luck, let us know how things go! xx

Ted...why are you still at CDH??? You big lump of love you!!! Ted is such a gentle chap, walks beautifully, loves his treats and is no bother at all. We passed another walker with a pooch and stopped to chat for a while. Don't worry Susie we kept the pooches a safe distant apart ;-)) But there was nothing to worry about as Ted just sat close, leaning against my leg and placing his head at the perfect angle where I could absentmindedly stroke him as we talked. Fabulous pooch that really deserves a forever sofa. Okay, he's a rottie.....a definite plus in my book....but you won't meet a softer and more loving pal!! So come on someone grab Ted and be prepared to be well and truly loved! xx

We had heartbreaking news from the staff today about Ted As his regular walkers will know, Ted has struggled with some medical issues since the day he came into CDH. He has had ongoing problems with his ear which despite various medications, steroids, anti-inflammatories, drops etc, continued to trouble him. He was also sporadically unsteady on his back legs, and a number of times he fell over whilst toileting. In addition Ted was taken off the daily walkers list many times as he suffered from frequent bouts of severe and painful tummy upset. The vets and staff decided that as there appeared to be no general improvement in Ted's health, and as this was understandably affecting his mood and demeanour, he was taken to Summerhill Vets yesterday for full blood tests and a thorough health check to try to determine an underlying cause. Ted's frequent visits to the vet room have obviously taken their toll, and he became extremely panicked and distressed whilst the vets were attempting to draw blood. A vet was badly bitten, and it was clear that Ted could not be examined safely without sedation, and this information was relayed to the staff. After much soul searching and discussion with everyone who has been involved with Ted's care, the very difficult decision was made to let him go rather than subject him to a future of possibly extremely stressful medical interventions, with no certain outcomes, and no promise of relief from his pain. We are utterly heartbroken at the loss of a life, but totally understand why this decision was made, and are grateful that Ted was allowed to go to the bridge peacefully and with dignity. Rest easy Ted, you were so loved, you are going to be so missed, I'm so sorry

Poor Ted. Hope the vet is OK. If only people would think before abandoning their pets. I hope whoever dumped Ted reads his thread, as they are ultimately responsible for what has happened to poor Ted.
