I got the chance to say hello to Max today when he came back from his morning walk and he is so adorable! He's an absolute teddy-bear!

I had the chance to walk Max yesterday. He is an absolute delight on the lead, very easy going and doesn't seem to be phased by much, though we didn't come across any other dogs, so I can't give a comment on that, but he didn't even look twice at the work truck pumping water off Penarth Road and making quite a bit of noise. He seemed very happy to just have a good wander and sniff about, but also enjoyed the occasional fuss. As said previously he is very gentle with treats and does a very good sit and he has a lovely smile.

Took Max out this morning. And just like the last time he was very well behaved and walked a treat on the lead. He did enjoy the occasional fuss and treats and he also impressed me with being very well behaved when there was another dog in the parking lot when we returned to the home. He did a lovely sit and pretty much ignored the other dog without needing to be distracted with lots of treats or anything. He did earn some treats though with that and he took them very gently and took his time with them, which was very cute for such a big boy. He also takes a formidable selfie

The amazingly regal Max! He is such a handsome handsome chap ........inside and out!! Max and I had a good long walk down to Penarth Yacht Club this morning and he was fabulous. He walks so nicely by your side. Okay he's a big strong fella so if if he wants to sniff at anything you've gotta go with him, particularly as I had him on a short lead, but when he's asked to move on he does. We stopped for a few minutes to admire the yachts and have a breather....he took his treats beautifully and was such a cwtch monster!! Big softie!! He's not a fan of other dogs and we passed a few on our walk. At first he wasn't happy with them but the longer we were out the less impact they had on him and I always tried to crossover the road if another dog was heading towards us so he never had the opportunity to get a bit grumpy!!! I absolutely adore this big handsome soppy fella and felt really proud to be walking by his side. I really wish someone would give Max a chance......if only I could take him home with me!!! :-( Attachments:

Had the chance to take this big boy for his wakey wakey walk today. He was well behaved and walked very well on the lead as he usually did when I took him out before. He also patiently waits and sits down while he's waiting for you to clean up after him. We saw another dog across the road and Max barked at him a few times, but once he lost sight he was back to his regal self(I like that description of him). On the lane we came across another dog, but with the help of treats Max didn't pay any attention to him. I could take him to the garden after the walk and he became a very playful young dog. At the beginning he was only really interested in sniffing around the garden and having a little explore. He didn't run(I haven't seen him run yet) he just had a bit of a faster paced trot at some points, but he enjoyed being off the lead. He was a bit confused by the big boomer ball, trying to stand on it with his front paws and then wondering why it moved away. He was quite happy carrying the medium boomer around a bit and playing footie with it, but he absolutely loved that blue wheel toy. He did hand it over to have it thrown though. He also did a lovely sit and paw(though the paw was a bit more of a slap due to his size ;D ). He did roll over at one point for a belly rub and he enjoyed having cwtches and just chilling out. He was a bit disappointed he had to leave the toy behind when we left the garden, but the prospect of some breakfast cheered him right up again. If you have a big space in your home and no other dogs then this fabulous boy deserves a chance and I'm sure he'd melt your heart with his big head, lovely smile and generally quite gentle nature.

Took Max for a walk in the sun this morning. He was put onto a harness for me and he walked much better with less pulling and on the way back was pretty much walking to heal.
He is so gentle taking his treats and his tail wags so fast whilst he sits and waits for some!
He was not keen on the first dog that we passed but did seem to mellow a bit with each further dog.
Was lovely to see how well Max is looking these days compared to when he first arrived at the home.

Had a lovely stroll with Max today. On the way out of the home we passed Luke and Murphy at a safe distance and he was well behaved. The initial interest in Luke was quickly forgotten once he had a treat in front of him and he happily came along then. He wasn't too bothered about Murphy and walked past him without any treats needed for distraction. Went then went a bit of a new way and he loved all the new smells and opportunities for sniffs. I had treats in a front pocket of my hoodie which he soon found out(it was about nose height for him) and he then kept poking me from time to time for treats, demonstrating some brains to go with his brawn(he didn't always get some though). I also had a hide bone for him, just to see whether he'd be focused on that(I heard he didn't let go of another chewy treat he had before a walk the other day), but he wasn't too fussed with it at first. He happily carried it on the way back though and when we met another one of the dog walkers(without dog) and stopped for a fuss and a chat he then got stuck into the bone and didn't drop it till we were back at the home. Big smile for all the new sniffs Selfie with the bone

When Max came in to CDH in June, it was very apparent that he had a troubled and unhappy past. He was extremely underweight, and generally in poor physical condition. Even though he was returned to good physical health after a few months, we can't begin to know what emotional or mental turmoil he suffered in his previous life. Although the staff and walkers got to know the very loving and affectionate side of Max, it was felt that after 5 months in kennels, and with no prospect of an experienced and suitable rehoming offer, it was decided by the staff that the kindest thing was to let Max go. He is at last free from the demons that plagued him. Rest easy big boy. He will be very very sadly missed by so many
