I urge everyone to actively promote our dogs. They need our help NOW!!! It's no good trying to help them after Christmas, it will be too late.
Share our page on Facebook, via twitter, tell your family, friends, colleagues, put posters up of them - I'm asking everyone to start helping now.
As the home is council run, it cannot refuse to take in dogs that are abandoned and so as a result our longer waiters will be first to be put to sleep to make room for another poor soul.
All of our dogs need as much help as possible now.

Thanks Lucy Unlike rescues, rehoming centres, The Dogs Trust, etc - who can all say 'sorry, there is no room at the inn' - CDH is a pound - they have to take in all dogs found straying in the local authority. CDH has 44 kennels, and take in approximately 100 dogs per month, who are abandoned or left to stray by their owners. It is a testament to the staff and to the Friends Volunteers who tirelessly promote the dogs, and of course to the rehomers who have opened their hearts and their homes to a poundie, that no dog has been lost due to space issues this year. But if CDH ends up with more dogs than kennel spaces, difficult decisions will have to be made. All our furbabies need to find a safe, loving home, and our long termers especially need help. If you care, please share

Having read many of the post, messages on various media sites and also having spoken to volunteers i am speachless . The outpouring of grief for the poor dogs that have recently been taken away so cruelly by the law cannot and should not be ignored and forgotten. There is a ‘fight’ for us all to have here, but know your audience when you post on social media. For every person that has shown an immense outpouring of emotion, use your words to make changes. Do not use your word to hurt those that are working tirelessly to improve what some people here are showing to have limited understanding of. Use these sites to ask questions, become educated and not to throw insults, as ignorance will not help our dogs. Social media has contributed to the huge success of Friends of Cardiff Dogs Home and now it is being used to communicate harsh and damaging words that are not in anyway constructive in our shared ‘fight’ to stop this cruel legislation. All you are successful in doing is making those who give up their time, in excess at times, question how everything that has been achieved and supported, especially through social media can now bring them threats of harm, abuse and unbearable pain. What matters more now is not just the sharing of your emotions, but the actions you can create from it. To say nothing, to do nothing , stops nothing. We should stop this now PLEASE , and stop causing pain to our dogs and each other. Start sending works that can help, advise and support and then we can all make a difference we want to see happen for our dogs.
