What a lovely girl. Am so disappointed that after walking Flake on Sunday my partner was called today to inform us that Flake had been assessed by the 'police warden assessor' and was pronounced a 'dangerous' dog and was now doomed to be put to sleep as she was part pit. We only had half an hour with this darling girl but her gentleness and submissive nature won our hearts.

Friends were absolutely devastated to hear late this afternoon that the DLO had assessed Flake as 'type' today The staff at CDH were visibly distressed when I was there today, but until the law is changed, the Council's hands are tied. Like all Council run pounds, the Home is inspected very regularly by a specially trained Police officer who assesses each dog as to whether they are 'type' under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The Act prohibits 4 types of dogs and it is illegal to own them without specific exemption from a court. The dogs are judged on their physical characteristics and whether they match the description of a prohibited 'type' if so the dog is PTS. It is such heartbreaking news, but today Flake was 'typed' and has been put to sleep This is the law of the land, there are no options, and the law has to be followed. This is happening in pounds all across the country and sadly, is not the first time it has happened at the Home and we have no doubt that it will not be the last time A great number of people are campaigning to have this law changed, arguing that it is the owners that produce dangerous dogs, not the actual breed itself. One of the best known and most influential is Breed Not Deed, please take a moment to check out their page here www.deednotbreed.org.uk/If you feel strongly about what has happened to Flake and so many other dogs before her, please show them your support. Sleep tight gorgeous girl
