The lovely lovely Joey. He loves to let you know he's there and talks all the way down the lane....unless of course you stop to give him a cwtch and then he's a happy happy boy and too busy enjoying his cwtch to think about being vocal.
I was told that he doesn't like being near traffic but he was fine. Occasionally he would follow a cars progress but he was so easily distracted from it that it wasn't problematic at all and he did a lovely 'stay' at the crossing despite traffic flying by. We sat by the river for 5 mins....okay, okay...it was 10 mins and most of it with his front legs on my knee to make the most of a major cwtch feast... not sure which one of us enjoyed it most!?!?! Joey is definitely a major cwtch monster!! I took him in the garden for a while for some off lead time and all he wanted to do was sit with me and cwtch.
I adore the fact he's a big butch n tough bull dog yet a big big softy with a heart of gold! Fabulous pooch who richly deserves a loving home.......with lots of cwtch time!!

shell17 has said everything I would about this lovely boy! So I won't repeat but just add that Joey was wonderful on his lead today, hardly any strong pulls and seems to have improved hugely during his time at CDH! Here are some pictures:
Mid turn to see what the hold up was!
Now for his close up:
(Smiley pic I cant take credit for but was posted onto the facebook group, hopefully no-one minds I have included in his photos!)

hi emmalouisewilliams, thanks for putting up the smiley pic of Joey. I just can't seem to get pics up on the forum at the moment, as this pic of Joey was so fab I just had to put it on FB.
It was taken whilst we were having a major cwtch fest and he was virtually sitting on my knee. We both thoroughly enjoyed it and i just couldn't help taking a pic of him grinning. Fab fella!! x

Joey.....my first wakey wakey walk today....boy he had loads of energy and sang in his joy at being out many times throughout our walk...making me laugh out loud every time he did it! This guy really lifts your spirits as he just so much fun to be with. Joey, you shouldn't be still at CDH and I don't understand why you still are....is t perhaps because you're a big lump??? Maybe....but that big lump comes with a big personality and a big heart. Please don't overlook Joey when you pop down to CDH.... take him out and witness first hand his wonderful singing and his amazing cwtches.

We are devastated to have to share this news.... Some of our Wakey Wakey Walkers get very, very close to our dogs, they walk them regularly, get to know and understand them, and although none of us are experts or behaviourists, the dogs are lucky to have some extremely intuitive walking companions who seem to be able to interpret the dogs' feelings. Lucy's beautiful post on Joey's thread pretty much summed up Joey perfectly. No-one can fail to have been moved by Lucy's words, but it was apparent that along with the physical injuries that Joey came in with, he was a haunted and troubled boy. Although Joey could be quite melancholy sometimes, and he has never shown any aggression previously, Joey did something completely out of character on Friday. One of the staff at CDH was bitten badly; there were a number of staff around at the time, no-one could identify anything that could have explained why Joey turned, it seemed to come out of the blue. Joey was taken off the walkers register and was observed closely by the staff over the weekend. He was assessed by a vet this morning. Although Joey's physical wounds healed over time, it seems his mental and emotional scars were too deep, he was unable to cope, and the very difficult decision was made to let Joey go peacefully. Joey passed to the bridge loved and cherished. Whatever happened to Joey in his young life before we met him, he could not have been more loved at the end. Sleep peacefully Joey, no more demons lovely boy

That's so sad, poor Joey. I hope the member of staff is ok. It's horrible for everyone involved and all caused by the ignorant uncaring person who was supposed to be Joey's guardian. RIP lovely boy.

It's a shame we never get to find the owners of so many of the dogs. When things like this happen I would like to put them in a room and show them exactly what they are responsible for. My thoughts are with all the staff.
