Whisper hello to Gypsy Gypsy has recently arrived at CDH and is obviously missing her owners. She is very nervous and shut down and nothing seems to be able to console this poor girl She doesn't want to interact with most people, but seems to have bonded to one of the staff at the home, so we are hoping he can bring her out of her shell and we will be able to see a much happier girl soon. If you'd like more information on Gypsy, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm.

Whatever the home has done as usual it's worked wonders! I popped in yesterday and took gypsy out for a stroll along the taff trail and she was excellent company on a slightly grey afternoon! She was a total dream on the lead not pulling at all. When we came to some steps we had a little sit down and she was so friendly and totally up for a bit of a tummy rub. She's also a smart girly, it did not take her long to figure out which pocket my treats were in... After a bit of a cwtch I asked her what she was still doing at the home, she was so calm and friendly the whole time! She thought it was something to do with the fact that she looked a bit sad in all her pictures, they didn't get her best side because she was a bit down when she first came in, so this is her posing for some new ones... Good luck Gyspsy!

I took the gorgeous Gypsy into the garden today for some off lead time. She was very calm and quiet and was more than happy just having a mooch around Gypsy does a great little sit! She was ever so gentle taking her treats and absolutely loved the pate!! Did I get that bit off the end of my nose Bec?? She wasn't overly bothered by the toys on offer, but did do a couple of fetches of a tennis ball. It was lovely to see her trotting around off lead Is it time to go back to kennels?? Good luck Gypsy, it was lovely to spend some time in your company today, fingers crossed you aren't waiting too much longer now gorgeous girl xx

I have had two walks with this lovely lady now and enjoyed both walks very much as she is so good on the lead. She walked in front on a slack lead and kept looking back to see who was her walker. Gypsy also has a beautiful shiny soft coat and she was more than happy to let me stroke her. She is a lovely natured dog who has beautiful looks to match and I hope she gets her perfect home soon!

We have some very sad news about Gypsy As you know, this poor girl arrived at the Home in a very distressed state, she was extremely nervous around people and only really took to staff member Nick. She was starting to come around with regular walks with the Vol's but there has been an incident involving Gypsy and a visitor to the Home and sadly, the decision has been made to let this beauty go to the Bridge Gypsy, we are heartbroken for you but you are free from your demons now lovely girl. We'll never know what happened to you before you arrived at the Home but you are in peace now, sleep tight sweetheart xxx

With a dog who makes an unprovoked and sustained attack on a member of the public? I really don't know. All rescue and rehoming centres I am aware of, including Dogs Trust, Battersea, and the most well respected local rescues euthanise dogs who are unsafe to rehome. CDH do absolutely everything they can to settle and work with the strays and abandoned dogs that come into the Home. I hope no-one thinks for one minute that these decisions are taken lightly. If anyone wants to continue this debate please do so in the chat thread. It is a bit disrespectful of Gypsy's memory to do it here. She suffered enough while she was alive
