I took Hooch out for a morning walk today, he's such a lovely boy I am a little in love ! When he came out of kennels he was so affectionate (even though this was our first meeting!). Hooch wanted a quick smooth and to give out a few kisses before we set off on our walk. He was exceptionally gentle throughout the time out of his kennel. He didnt pull on the lead at all. We arrived at the top of the lane at the same time as CDH resident Casey so we walked the two dogs in parallel, (opposite sides of the lane so very safe distance) but both dogs seemed happy with the presence of the other. Hooch initally looked over a few times but then seemed completely uninterested in Casey and preferred to continue to sniff out new smells! He seems a little nervous, he did jump at a few loud noises on the walk but Im sure when his surroundings are more familiar he will grow in confidence! When we arrived back at the home it was vet day and a lot was going on! Multiple dogs were barking in the car park and there were people rushing around. Hooch however thought this was the perfect environment for a tummy tickle! He was amazingly calm and happy to have cuddles while we waited. He did get many admiring glances for his looks and behaviour at this point! This boy would be a wonderful addition to any family! Hope he isnt waiting too much longer!

I haven't announced this to the world yet as I want everyone to be settled in before you get all the visitors and etc. but I promised Susie I would do an update so here is an exclusive.
Some of you know me as Lynda 101 walker or from the St Mellons Dog Show and the Lexi Walk I helped organise.
It was just over a week ago I offered to take Casey to the Dog Show at Barry with my friend Richie and his Husky Roxi. When I called up I was advised it could be too much excitement for Casey but to take Hooch instead. I had never met Hooch but when I mentioned to Richie Hooch was joining us he was really pleased as he really liked the look of him and it would be nice for Roxi to have a play mate.
Hooch showing how good he is....
We tested them both and they got on like long lost best friends...
We decided to take a walk by the lakes first and as you can see Roxi and Hooch got on very well and enjoyed playing together.
Then we went to the show and Hooch met so many doggy friends some really liked him and some were not so fussed on him but either way nothing fazed this boy he just enjoyed the day
He met up with the South Wales Sibs & Mals and was welcomed into the pack straight away really fitting right in. Here is a photo of him meeting Florence (Shelley's Husky from the South Wales Sibs and Mal pack) that Roxi at the bottom think she is saying he's my mate!
It was very busy at the show and very warm he had been so good so tolerant we wanted to leave on a good note so we headed off to the sea for a cool sea air breeze
It was here that the very serious conversations were had about adopting him.
It was heart breaking taking Hooch back neither of us wanted him to go back to the kennel but we knew he had a good day. That night Roxi was introduced to my two cats Cwtch and Cusan as they had never seen a dog before so wasn't sure what to make of Roxi while she just sat and looked at them.
The next day I cat tested Hooch with my feistiest of the two cats Cwtch (yes she looks so cute and she is but boy can she growl and hiss when she wants too)
She growled she hissed and Hooch just walked away like nothing had happened. There was just no reaction from him at all. I decided to put I an application for him if you don't try you will never know right.
On Tuesday I returned to the home and took him out for a long walk just the two of us and again he was brilliant. Wednesday I was on my way to the home in the morning and I got call from the Home... When I got to the home I was informed I was excepted as you can imagine I was delighted but at the same time trying to think how I could get him home in my sports car which isn't designed for carrying dogs with strut bars on at the back plus I didn't have any dog kit. Massive thanks to Susie, Cardiff Dogs Home Staff and pop up shop for kitting Hooch and I out so I could get him home and settled in.
Hooch in the back of the car ready for go to his forever home
To be continued......

As you can imagine I wasn't expecting to take Hooch that day so it was all a bit of a surprise..
I got him home and made a few changes in the cat and put him in there for the time being so could get the house sorted and cats safe... he really enjoying running about and jumping on everything...
Cwtch and Hooch say hello behind the glass door
Hooch getting excited in his now play pen
sofa cuddles
Meeting Cusan for the 1st time... Hooch was really good didn't move an inch and wasn't really that interested in them..
In the evening we had a 3 hour long walk and Hooch was shattered
He slept in his basket all night in the kitchen and didn't make a sound... unlike my cats who slept upstairs and caused mayhem!!!
We have been going on some amazing walks.. in the morning we tend to do around 2 hours and in the evening 3 hours and have walked miles he loves gentle walks never pulls expect when we go back home he pulls me up the hill then and shows me that he can be a sled dog when he needs too
We are blessed that my garden over looks stunning farm land and so Hooch can look out into the fields and has a lovely enclosure which he seem to really like.. he is fast asleep out there now. He can watch the birds and the odd cat that visits the garden or Cwtch and Cusan who come to talk to him by the window yes they seem to be holding conversations between each other now Cwtch has stopped growling at him!
Just up the road not even two minutes we have this lovely walk and not a dog in sight..
You've heard the saying a wolf in sheeps clothing well this is a Husky in sheeps sh*t!! note to self watch he doesn't rub in sheeps mess
I think Hooch is happy at least I hope he is.. I have renamed him Red he seems to like it and comes when I call him. He is learning not to jump up and to sit and is doing really well and he is teaching me how to tickle his tummy just right because its all about the belly tickles with this boy..
Thanks for reading no doubt you will see Red at some of the Newport Sled Dogs and S.W sibs & mal meets as well as some dog event in the future or maybe just out and about on a walk because we do love walking
