Say hello to Anna Anna is a young staffie girl who guaranteed to brighten up anyone's days! She was all smiles and waggy tailed when she came out for her photo's. She was quick to show us she was more than just a pretty face and showed us a lovely sit for treats, which she took ever so gently. Yummy! After treats it was play time and Anna showed us how much she loves toys and happily chased them around the room bringing them back to us to show us what she had got. As well as being gorgeous, smart and playful, Anna is a very affectionate girl and really enjoyed her time having a cwtch and a scratch with Emma. That's the spot! Anna is available for rehoming from 7th July. If you'd like more info on her, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm.

We have some very, very sad news; Anna is now at Rainbow Bridge Life hasn't been fair to you precious girl, run free and happy, taking all our thoughts and prayers with you. Shame on your owner who didn't come for you. Like all Council run pounds, the Home is inspected very regularly by especially trained Police officers who assess each dog as to whether they are 'type' under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The Act prohibits 4 types of dogs and it is illegal to own them without specific exemption from a court. The dogs are judged on their physical characteristics and whether they match the description of a prohibited 'type' if so the dog is PTS. It is such heartbreaking news, but on recent inspection Anna was 'typed' and has been put to sleep This is the law of the land, there are no options, and the law has to be followed. This is happening in pounds all across the country and sadly as we know, is not the first time it has happened at the Home and we have no doubt that it will not be the last time A great number of people are campaigning to have this law changed, arguing that it is the owners that produce dangerous dogs, not the actual breed itself. One of the best known and most influential is Deed Not Breed, please take a moment to check out their page hereIf you feel strongly about what has happened to Anna and so many other dogs before her, please show them your support. Sleep tight gorgeous girl

What an utter waste of life. This legislation is not fair and needs amending and/or updating. At the very least it needs to be politically and legally challenged and highlighted as to its constitutional flaws. "One size" definitely does not fit all. I feel so sorry for Anna and everyone who got close to her at the home. So very, very sad.

This absolutely breaks my heart. It was easy to see from Anna's photos that she was a sweetheart. The way she proudly brought her toy across the room and cuddled in for fuss, she was obviously desperate to be loved......and thank goodness she got that in what were to be her final days.
I was only looking at her photo this morning and thinking what a gorgeous girl she was. She'd obviously been used for breeding and then abandoned......sorry to use the word, but I hate the people who left her like that.
This Breed Specific Legislation is so arbitrary.....it doesn't take into account any views of those who get to know these wonderful dogs. I intend to write to my MP about it - something has to happen to stop this dreadful waste of beautiful lives.
RIP Anna - know that you matter and will not be forgotten - you are a precious girl xx

Peeps, we are all distraught as this futile loss of life, but we would ask people to respect Anna's memory, and her final resting place in our hearts. There are a number of organisations, FB groups, etc who campaign against BSL, we would urge everyone to petition against this cruel legislation, but not here, not on Anna's thread please. Rest peacefully beautiful girl eta: Forum mods have moved a few posts into a thread labelled 'Breed Specific Legislation' in the 'Advocacy for the Dogs' section on this forum.

I can't find this thread anywhere for Breed Specific Legislation. Seeing as I run the Citizens in Wales against BSL group on Facebook could you point me in the right direction please? Thanks xx
