Some of our Facebook followers, and visitors to the Home may have caught a fleeting glimpse of Angel when she arrived at the Home two weeks ago. She was desperately undernourished, and could barely stand. She was seen by the vets, she had a body condition score of zero. She weighed just 14 kilos. How on earth she was still alive is a mystery. We were advised by the staff that they and the RSPCA were attempting to trace her owners, who would most certainly have been prosecuted for this outrageous neglect. However, they have been unsuccessful in finding out who is responsible for Angel's condition, and she is now available for rehoming. You would hardly recognise her as the same dog now! She has thrived under the tender care of the staff at the home, and within 6 days she gained 6 kilos! Angel was an absolute darling when we brought her out of her kennel for a bit of fresh air last week! She is affection, and so waggy-tailed grateful for a kind word, a soft hand petting her, and morsels of treats - which despite everything, she took with such a gentle mouth. Angel is now tipping the scales at 22 kilos, she still has a little way to go to reach her optimum weight, but more to the point she is going to need to build up some muscle mass, and this is going to take an age of gentle exercise to build her up. The staff are taking applications on Angel, although she won't be leaving CDH until the vets are hapy that she is well enough and firmly on the road to recovery. For more information please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm.

Oh my goodness, those first pictures of Angel brought tears to my eyes. But what an amazing dog! There's a spirit in there that just so deserves the best home possible. And what a fantastic job CDH staff & volunteers have done - we are humble to your talents!
What a beautiful dog xx

Wow! What a transformation!
An extreme example of exactly how much the staff put in for these dogs. She looks so much better.
Such a beautiful girl who most definitely deserves a loving home after all she has been through.

Took the lovely Angel for a short walk this morning, she was very hesitant at first but with lots (and lots!) of encouragement we walked around the block and she had a good sniff around.
She kept looking at me for reassurance with those huge eyes of hers (heart breaking), she walked past other pooches with no trouble at all and, for a lady with a background as she has ......took her treats so so gently!
Beautiful girl :-)

It went very well. Mikey (the cat) passed with flying colours because he is so cool around dogs. Angel is really an angel in every sense of the word, despite everything the poor little mite has gone through. Pippin the puppy got very excited and wanted to play so started doing his puppy squeal, but they had a good walk down the lane and back and a good introduction with the help of the very experienced staff. Going again tomorrow for a play in the garden to get them even better acquainted. Thanks all for your encouragement folks. Still keeping everything crossed. Great news! It was great to meet you today, Pippin is absolutely scrummy Apologies the chat was cut short...daisy was eager to get going! Hope everything goes well tommorrow too x

We visited the home yesterday, and boy weren't we in for a surprise! We seen Angel on the day she arrived at the home, sad eyes and a bag of bones..It upset me seeing her, but today I had to take a second glance when we walked past her kennel! She is thriving, her she has some fat on her which is brilliant and those sad eyes now have a sparkle again. It was so lovely to see her looking 100% better than she did on day one. Well done CDH, looking forward to seeing her on her own forever sofa soon x
