Hello Everybody, I'm Alessia, just moved from Italy with my husband and my furry family. I volunteered for 10 year in dog pound in Italy and I can't just stay away from it! Let's me introduce my family. Grace is about 5 years old, she was a stray dogs and became part of our family 3 years ago. She is so lovely and would do everything for food:-) The bad boys are Leo and Martin, 8 years old, our ginger cats...breaking and entering is their favourite hobby!! Rescued when they were only 20 days old

Hello!
Leo & Martin look lovely and full of mischief! Grace is stunning, so shiny and happy.
Sure there are plenty of things you can get involved with. There are walker inductions coming up soon if you were interested in walking any of the residents and there are always volunteers needed for meet and greets and other events. Look forward to seeing you around :-)

Yes, I got lost in the forum looking all the activities, I met some of you during last sunday meeting. I was the girl making bags for "cash for clothes". I already sent my request for the dog walking and I will look the craft section if there is something I can do. I saw that there is a meet and greet this saturday...What is it and what help do you need? I'm free until 1.00 pm. Thanks!

Meet and greets are a brilliant opportunity to get out and about talking to members of the public about CDH and trying to raise some funds for the kennels as well. Some of the volunteers usually take a few of the dogs over as well so that they can be seen.
It's all good publicity and passing information to people - it also puts a real face to the dogs, it's amazing how many people assume that all the dogs are damaged/dangerous dogs when in reality they aren't.
All the volunteers tend to have fun spending time with the dogs too :-)

Someone will be able to give you a lift in for sure, or if you want to join the Purple Pilgrims in town aim to get there for about 10.15 ish? It always takes us longer than we anticipate to set off, sort out which dogs are going to be 'up for it', pack the cars and park up in town.
