Well Cassie has had quite the dsy today, two walks with Max and making friends with Chunky too. Michele and I took Cassie and Max for a nice long walk this morning, not even the rain could dampen her spirits as she was as enthusiastic as ever to get going. Her and Max walk well together, and although they do pull, they interact very well together and have no problem walking side by side bumping into eachother all the time Cassies tail high and wagging. As per the norm, Cassie has no issues with anything around her and likes to stop every now and then for a good sniff at something interesting! Later on in the afternoon, Ricki and I took the same pair for another long walk and again, they were great walking together. On our way around we bumped into Chunky on his walk and invited them to tag along so the 3 dogs could walk together. Some quick hellos with the 3 of them were like they'd all spent lots of time together before (this was the first time Cassie and Max had met Chunky). Cassie had a good sniff of Chunky and face to face there were absolutely no issues, thry both had tails wagging and were happy to have made a new friend each. For the rest of the walk, all 3 were just so comfortable in each others company and its just so nice to be able to allow these dogs to socialise and walk together. Cassie is such a good girl, improving with every walk, has the most loving nature and the most beautiful face and has now started to regularly look back whilst walking just to check i'm still there! Someone out there must have room for Cassie in their lives. In return you'd be getting a stunning girl who woukd pay you back with so much love and affection!

I've been walking to beautiful Cassie on a halti slip lead recently and she's taking to it really well. She's really willing to learn, she no longer jumps coming out of her kennel and I enjoyed a very very relaxing hours long walk in the sun with her last week and she walked like a dream On the halti lead. She does show some resistance but the longer she walks the more she gets used to it. Cassie can be boisterous in her kennel, but please don't let that put you off, she really is very loving and gentle once out and would make the most loving companion in someone's life and someone is going to be extremely lucky to have her in their life!

I was so happy to be able to take my favourite girl out this morning after not being able to due to the big that's been going around. She came out quite excited and did jump at the lead a little, but this was stopped straight away and that was the last time she tried to do this. I put the halti slip on her again today and she walked in it for about an hour and 20 mins without too much fuss, she does attempt to rub her head all over your legs now and then, and two or three times time to pull it off, but on the whole she walked really really well on it, by the end of the walk she was walking like a dream! Cassie can be loud in her kennel but this is absolutely no reflection of the sweet gentle affectionate girl Cassie is out of it, all of this with her gorgeous good looks makes her a great catch for a potential re-homer, if you like big breed dogs, you'll love Cassie

If you're serious about re-homing Cassie it would probably be worth getting down to the home as soon as you can and doing an intro, then if possible get down as much as you can with coco so they meet several times, the more times they meet, the more comfortable they'll get with each other. I have no doubt you'll love Cassie, she's an absolute sweetheart, if she barks in her kennel, ignore it, it's truely no reflection of what she's like out of it. I've got all my fingers and toes crossed!!!

We're waiting on the final decision so don't want to get too attached to her until we 100% have the mortgage through but ss soon as we know we'll be straight down

Oh man did this Lady have an awesome Sunday afternoon with the boys (Max and Chuck!) down the beach. Cassie behaved perfectly and had a blast blowing the cobwebs away. I've fallen in love with this lady and her personality, please don't be put off by her barking in her kennel, she just doesn't know how to say hello in a human friendly way. She really is full of personality...she just needs a chance. Mmm all the sniffs!! What are those boys up to?! I'm freeeeeeee! Now Michele, Charli, this stick is in my way.... Tis ok girls... I got this. I think Cassie would be a mermaid if she could.

Definitely a mermaid in the making - what a lovely dog, and the smile on her face would melt any heart.
There must be a Cassie sized space out there with a new family somewhere.

She definitely does think she's a mermaid! A few of us took some of the dogs to the river and she spent much more time in the water than out of it! She's such a beautiful, well behaved, good natured dog, I love spending time with her!

I still don't understand why this beautiful face doesn't have any interest yet! She is a regular on the weekend group walks that we seem to do most weekends now and she always behaves impeccably well with the other dogs that are there too, and there has been a mix of a lot of different ones! This Sunday she also took a little stroll with Hamlet and yet again she was great. Cassie is very loving and very affectionate, she loves a good chest scratch!! She will bark in her kennel, but all she is asking is that you get her outside for a little while and when you do that, she is a different girl altogether. She is strong and does pull on the lead, but she has responded well to some work that we have been doing with her when she jumps coming out of her kennel, which she very very rarely does now, so I'm sure that she can be trained with some walking aids, in fact, we have started this with a Halti lead, and though she will now and then attempt to get it off, on the whole she walks very well with it on! Someone out there must like the look of Cassie and must be willing to give her a chance, You won't be disappointed if you do!!

I simply cannot tell you how sad I am to have to write this, but our beloved Cassie went to Rainbow Bridge today Everyone will know how difficult she found kennel life, and how much she loved being outdoors. But she became increasingly stressed over the last few weeks, and over the last two weeks she began behaving unpredictably, even when out of her kennel. There was an incident with a young child two weeks ago, which could have resulted in a serious injury had her walker not been so vigilant. A few days later, Cassie had an uncharacteristic altercation with one of her doggy buddies whilst she was out walking with a member of staff and a Friends volunteer, and she redirected onto the member of staff causing a fairly serious wound. Following this incident, Cassie launched herself at another member of staff when they entered her kennel, and after consulting with everyone involved in her care, including the vets, the very difficult decision was made to let Cassie go. I have set out the reasons which led to this decision, not to 'blame' Cassie for her own demise. She was not a 'bad' dog, at all. She was a thoroughly amazingly girl, she was funny and loveable, and incredibly affectionate towards those she trusted. But with no rehoming interest, and the fact that she was struggling so much to cope with her continued confinement, the staff came to the only decision they could. They explored every option before making this decision, the reality is no rescue would have taken her, the staff have been trying for months, even before her behaviour became difficult to manage. And even though every dog gets at least one walk a day, spending 23 hours a day in a kennel for a prolonged period is simply too much for some dogs, especially young dogs, to bear. Today, our lovely volunteer Lucy came down to spend time with Cassie before her final journey. As Cassie has been struggling a little on her walks, Lucy took her straight into our Sensory Garden. Cassie loved the garden. She loved the freedom, she loved that she could stretch her legs and leap around like a young spring lamb, demolishing the toy box to pick her next favourite toy, throwing it into the air, then hurling herself onto the nearest lap for a cuddle before setting off again to find her next favourite toy.... and so she went on, until she returned to Lucy, flumped into her lap, and kissed her face, as if to say 'OK Luce, I'm ready to go now'... Cassie was sedated, and her passing was peaceful. She was held tenderly in Dale's arms, and he whispered comforting words as she quietly slipped away. Cassie knew for sure she was loved, especially by walkers Mike & Rhys, and staff member Dale. She didn't die unknown and unloved surrounded by strangers. She was surrounded with love, she was a such precious girl, and to everyone who took time to get to know her, my heart breaks for you, because I know how much you'll miss her, as I will. I know for sure if Cassie was by my side now, she would be kissing the tears from my face, and telling me not to cry, because she is at peace. Rest easy Cassie, my sweet baby girl, gonna miss you so much xxx
