Hi, is there an induction today? I missed the last one and just realised that this month's one may have been last weekend?

We are starting a walker program in NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME We have been asked if Cardiff Registered walkers need to re-register for Newport, and/or attend a Newport Induction. No - you don't have to re-register! And you don't necessarily have to attend a Newport Induction, although as we will be working a little differently at Newport, you might find it useful if you can make it. You won't be given a second walkers number though - your walker number will be used at either/both centres. Please note - To begin with, we are limiting the days/times for walking at Newport. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday between the hours of 11am - 1.00pm. BUT we are not starting the walker program until after the first induction, which is being held on Saturday, 18th Feb, 11am at the NEWPORT shelter. If anyone has any other questions please do post up here! If you are thinking it, other people are bound to be wondering the same thing! We are also looking for some additional help at Newport - Rehoming Hub Receptionists to provide cover between the hours of 11 - 1pm Monday to Saturday. If you are confident around dogs and people, and would like to be a part of a small and friendly team welcoming volunteers and visitors to the Shelter, this could be for you! Ideally you will be able to commit to one regular day per week at the Shelter. Must be over 18. VOLUNTEERING

Is there any storage available at the home, like lockers or something? As I don't have a car, it would be handy to have somewhere to leave some things whilst I'm out on walkies!

Hello littlemountaingoat There are no lockers for volunteers, but the staff at both centres may be able to keep safe small personal items, handbags, change of shoes etc. Hope this helps

Hi there I am hoping to make it to the next induction at the Newport home and was wondering if there are any busses that go from the center of Newport to near the dogs home? Many thanks.

I'm not sure what bus services there are in Newport, here's a link to NEWPORT BUS - there's a phone number at the bottom of the page. Hopefully they will be able to let you know where the nearest stops are x

I got the bus there once, I believe I got on number 43 from the bus station. You need to get off on Corperation Rd, by B&Q and Morrisons. Then walk right down Corperation Rd until you get to Stephenson St on your right. It's a fair walk, 1.3 miles, but you will be walking more with the dogs it's just more exercise in my opinion! The home is on an industrial estate, don't let that put you off when your walking, you are going the right way! x

Hi, it might be too late, but I have registered for dog walking in Cardiff, and would like to attend tomorrow for the induction course, but I don't have very clear where it is. In a couple of weeks I start working in the mornings so it will be harder to join other induction courses.. I'll check this in the morning or give you a call :-) thanks!

Hi and welcome Cardiff Dogs Home in on Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, Cardiff. If you are coming by car follow your satnav to the Porsche Garage mini-roundabout CF11 8TW. Drive into Westpoint Industrial Estate, follow the road around and turn right immediately after Homerite Bathrooms. Drive up the lane, the Dogs Home is at the top of the lane.

Hi, I'm coming to the induction Friday, managed to get the morning off work! Filled in the online from a couple weeks ago. I'm just wondering once I'm inducted, can I bring a friend along with me sometimes while I walk a dog? Or would they need to attend an induction day too? Thanks!

Hi Carys Your friend can come along with you anytime. If they want to walk by themselves they'd have to do an induction but they can accompany you. Enjoy!
