Please give a warm welcome to Penny (or the lady Penelope to give her her full title lol ) If you're a Rottie fan (or generally just a fan of lovely dogs!) you're gonna love this girl! Penny has been in the home for a week or so, and was a very worried girl when she arrived, so staff have been letting her get used to her new surroundings and settle in. Now that she's feeling a bit happier we got her out for her photo shoot, and got to meet the amazing girl behind the frightened dog that arrived last week. As soon as she came out of her kennel and bounded into the vets room she was so happy and friendly, she said hello to all of us in turn with big kisses and waggy tail. But it was clearly Susie who had the tastiest face, as Penny decided that she would need to climb on the chair to get into a proper licking face position! Gissa kiss Susie Look at this gorgeous face, how could anyone resist? We think that Penny is just a youngster, and was so happy to have a teddy to play with When Ricki arrived, she immediately scampered over to him and threw herself in his lap Penny is a lovely lovely girl, she is worried still in her kennel, but she is a different dog out of it. If you're interested in meeting her, please ask staff to get her out so you can meet her and get to know her. Penny will be ready for rehoming from the 1st January. If you would like more info on her, please phone the Dog's Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, Open 7 days a week 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm

I saw this delightful young lady last week, firstly in her kennel, then on her first time outside. She looked very nervous at that time. As an owner already of lovely Rottie (zena), i was immediately attracted to this little beauty, and waited patiently until i could finally meet her today. Claire and i took her for her first walk, she was an absolute delight. Lots of new smells and easy to walk on the lead. Her tail didnt stop wagging the whole time. Once she'd investigated every new smell, she iooks for affection and encouragement. Its a bit early to say if she understands commands as she was just so happy to be out and walking. We had some playtime in the garden and then she came and just wanted lots of attention and i was showered with kisses. I am so looking forward to introducing my rottweiller zena to her over the weekend. So far so good... a beautiful little lady, Ive taken a couple of photos in rhe garden today i shall try to.post on here.. Many thanks Sarah

I couldn't believe my luck when Penny hadn't been walked this afternoon, having admired her on here, and what an absolute dream she is to walk too. No jumping up, but clearly delighted to have the attention and to be out to smell all the amazing things outside the kennels. An absolute dream to walk, keeps pace whether walking or a little jog, and very attentive to you. First thing she did when we got to the little lane was fine a spot to wee... think she'd been holding it in! And couple of times there was a car and I needed to keep her close by me, she was very calm and attentive until it had passed. Showed some friendly interest in another dog out for its walk, but quite happy to be led away to let it pass. Even managed to get a couple of pics of this beauty... sniff sniff sniff... that's what a walks for, surely? adorable doesn't even cover it...

Awww love this girlie she s just such an easy dog to walk. Did a late morning walk with her today, and reckon she must have been house trained cos she was keen to toilet as soon as she was out the gates! Very excited to be out after confinement and clearly wanting to have a play with Molly who was walking in the lane a little way ahead. But a little distraction and change of route and she was back to her steady pace (with plenty of sniffing pauses). Such an attentive sweetie, I d swear she's already got the hang of wait, she s so good crossing roads. And we had a few little jogs on the walk which she enjoyed. On one, When I managed to face plant myself tripping over my own feet (lead splaying in one hand and poo bag in the other like a cartoon) she came to lick my face and check I was ok. And she was thrilled to see auntie suzy when she got back to the home. I'm sure she's going to make someone a very happy owner

Hello , I think your all doing such a wonderful thing for theas dogs. I would love to get to know Penny with the Vue of giving her a home. I live in Brecon and work full time but I'm self employed and am looking for a companion to come out to work with me every day. I can finish early next Thursday so will pop over then but in the meantime it would be fantastic if someone could let me if she's gone to a good home? For selfish reasons , I hope not ! ?

Heya Huw Miss Penny wltm you If you haven't visited Cardiff Dogs Home before, don't follow your SatNav - you'll end up back & fro-ing on the slip road! Head for this post code CF11 8TW (it's the Porsche garage in case anyone is wondering) - don't stop to look at the shiny cars, but turn into Westpoint Industrial Estate and follow the road around, then turn immediately right at Homeright bathrooms. The Home is at the top of the lane.

Penny was my last walk today and what a girl. She has such an expressive face, her tail wagged nonstop the whole time and when we stopped for a short rest she climbed onto the bench for a better view of the river and wildlife! All in all a great girl, fab to walk with plenty of character - I'm a convert(First time I've walked a Rottie) . www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10152555665126003&set=o.302271649786988&type=1

Penny and I stepped out this morning. My first time walking with Penny. As a young Rottie, I thought Penny would be a little hard to walk on the lead, boy was I wrong. She came out of CDH slowly, taking her time to sniff her way over to me. Once she had a good whiff of my leg and hand we were ready to go. Penny walks along so proudly, tail wagging, head held high. She loves to sniff around and get right to the heart of the scent. We had a lovely walk to the riverside picnic area, where she (again, it would seem) sat on the bench to get a better view of life. Penny walks well on the lead, wanting to bound away occasionally for a game of chase, but in wellies, I am not kitted out for the run I am sure she would love. She did want to go and meet Virginia on our way out and Sunny on our way back, so she does show an interest in other dogs. However, I have no reservations of walking this young lady again, she was a delight to take out.

You'd need to phone the home to find out if she's on reserve for anyone, but she was there very late yesterday afternoon for a last minute walk/ jog with me Reckon she'd appreciate a visit and a long walk in the better weather today anyway, Thursday wasn't the best!

I have walked Penny a few times now and find her great company. She would dearly love to bound around in some open spaces, that can be seen in the moments after a wee, she bounces ready to run. She is still a little wary of some loud bangs that occur when walking down Penarth Road but she is more than happy to look to you for confirmation all is well and off we go. I would say, to any prospective viewers, please meet Penny for a walk before viewing her in the kennel environment. My experience as a walker of Penny, found her very agitated in the confines of the noisy kennels. She really is a wonderful girl for any person willing to take the time to get to know her. Don't take the kennel situation as a reflection of Penny, it is a stressful environment for so many dogs to get a break. Penny really would make a fantastic addition to your home if you are committed to giving Penny the love and attention she deserves (and will no doubt repay tenfold).
