Hi everyone :-)
My partner and I adopted Brucie last summer, and as much as we adore him and don't ever want to leave him, we need to find a good boarding kennels for him when we go on holiday next month.
I'm a bit worried because he loves people sooooo much and I worry about him being sad and lonely for 4 days. He's not a very independent guy, he wants affection all day long! So I'd prefer to send him somewhere where he'll get lots of love and play times!!
Does anyone have any recommendations? I just want to make sure he'll have lots of walks and attention.
Thanks! Louisa

Hi Lovely to hear you and Brucie are doing so well together!
Is Brucie quite sociable with other dogs? I know a lady who runs home boarding in Bridgend, called "Wagadog inn" She is on Facebook, and I believe she has a website to if you were to google her. They live as they would in your house, and she takes them all for long walks to Ogmore beach and Merthyr Mawr sand dunes.
Otherwise I would definitely recommend Whitewall Kennels in Caldicot, they let you come in and have a look around, do introductory sessions in the lead up to the holiday. A few hours stay to build them up to it. They are surrounding by beautiful countryside and have lovely paddocks for exercising as well as walkies
Hope this helps, and puts your mind at rest

Hiya Louisa I use Pentyrch Boarding Kennels and have always been more than happy with the service they provide. Its a purpose built, new kennels and the facilites are amazing. Staff are great too and pretty flexible about drop off/pick up times. They have a website but you can drop in anytime for a look around and they will give you a proper tour. I know you never really know how your dogs settle in kennels but when mine went back for the second time, there was no fuss from them when I left them! Would highly recommend them for Bruce x www.pentyrch-kennels.co.uk/index.html

Hello
We also use Pentyrch Kennels, with two dogs with separation anxiety they are fabulous! We went for a visit after Becky recommended them and loved the location and accommodation. Like Becky said the Staff are brilliant. My two love it there & we would highly recommend them. I am a worried Mam & called a few times when we first left them but now they go no fuss they don't even look back at us ( they aren't left very often) x

Hi Louisa
This can be a bit of an anxious time can't it?
Aside from the good advice you've heard from the others, have you thought of having people to stay in your home and look after Bruce? For some dogs, staying in their own home with their own stuff around them can be preferable.
Our dog walker, Janette, and her husband Phil work for an organisation called Care4Pets in Barry. They both do home stays very regularly and are completely trustworthy and reliable. They're also really good about taking care of any other animals you might have (cats, fish, horses, donkeys etc) as well as the dogs.
Care4Pets have their own website if you'd be interested in taking a look.
Good Luck

Thanks everyone for all the advice and recommendations, he's now booked in at Pentyrch so hopefully he'll be happy there for a couple of days! Thanks again you've really helped and I shall hopefully not worry about him too much while we are away!

Buster's stayed at Pentyrch several times now and, although he misses his sofa, he's always happy to see the people when they collect him at Taffs Well and jumps straight in the van/car with them! He always comes back smelling lovely too, though that doesn't tend to last long
