Wowsers! Please welcome the extremely handsome Troy Troy has been brought into CDH as a stray, so we don't know a lot about him, other than he's extremely good looking, a whole bundle of fun, very affectionate, gentle, loves toys, and has definitely had some basic training! When you call his name, his right ear stands up to attention! Troy can execute a perfect 'Down'.... 'Sit'! And on command he will slap his giant paws into your hand just for the fun of it! Troy loves attention and affection, he leans in for cwtches, 'Ooooh, yeah, right there'! Jen - this lap is toooooo small - but I'm going to give it a go anyway! And he loves a good ol' belly rub! Troy is just a youngster, he loves the outdoors, but judging from his waistline he's been spending a little too much time in front of the TV lately. This lad will definitely benefit from an active household Yeah, shake on it! Troy is absolutely bursting with potential, he's smart, intuitive, affectionate, and did we mention stunningly handsome? If Troy's owners don't come forward for him, he will be available for rehoming from 19th May. If you'd like more information on him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm

This morning I had the absolute pleasure of taking Troy out for his first walk. I'd spotted him on the forum over the week and had made a mental note to go in and ask for him as soon as I got down to CDH. He did not pull the lead once, I had the most relaxed walk of my whole time of volunteering. Troy plods along, likes to sniff everything and just in general is a great walk. We hot footed it into the garden because we were both boiling, where he went straight into the pool! Adorable.

I was lucky enough to take Troy out for a walk this morning. He is a big dog and at first glance I thought he may be difficult to handle but I was completely wrong. He was a pleasure to walk on the lead and did not pull once. He was very gentle and relaxed and wagged his tail the whole walk. He also enjoyed lying down in the occasional puddle to cool down. I guarantee that once you have met Troy you will fall in love with him. I hope it is not too long until he finds his forever home. He will make someone very happy!

Troy was the perfect gent on our walk by the river today. He didn't pull at all and waited patiently to cross the road etc. He's very interested in whats going on around him and likes to sniff everything. We passed other walkers and cyclists and apart from wanting to say hello he was no problem at all. I'll definitely be asking to walk him again in the near future, although hopefully he'll be snapped up into a loving home first!

We are absolutely heartbroken to share this sad news with you There was an isolated but very serious incident this week with Troy when he went to see the vet for a check up. Troy was with his favourite staff member when the incident occurred, he seemed relaxed and happy, walked to the vets room with no problems, so the incident really came out of the blue for all concerned. What happened was devastating, especially for the vet and staff involved, who were all left totally stunned and traumatised by it. After discussions with the vets and staff, it was decided that Troy wasn't safe to be rehomed and the sad decision was made to let him go to Rainbow Bridge I know this will come as a shock to anyone who spent time with Troy. He was a gent and a joy to walk and this is how we will remember him. Charli, Sarah, Charlotte, Anni and others who walked Troy made his days with us special and although he wasnt at the Home long, he won many hearts. Sleep tight big boy, you will be missed by us all, run your legs off at the Bridge and wallow in those swimming pools

Oh beautiful Troy, I'm so sorry.......for you and for the vet and staff involved.
It's so unfair that a young boy like you, with so much to offer, won't now have the chance to realise your potential......which sounds like it was great from the comments on your page.
I'm glad your last month was spent with people who appreciated you properly. Run free at Rainbow Bridge and know that you will always matter and will never be forgotten because you're obviously a very special boy x
