My mum is very taken with Alf with a view to possibly adopting him. However, it goes without saying that it would be wonderful if Alf could be reunited with his previous family. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed in the hope that lovelymumof3 is indeed that family and a joyful reunion is on the horizon.....

Yesterday I buddied up with the gorgeous old man Alf, he was staying at hotel d'CDH for the night, which looked very comfy - a roomy cage with plenty of blankets - 5* me thinks.
This weekend actually marked my 1 year anniversary volunteering and I couldn't think of a better way to have spent it.
Alf and I met up around 11, with a quick walk around the block. We stopped on the bit of green at the bottom of the lane where he had a quick wee break and a good wander around, there was even a little skip in his step! Instantly my heart was taken with this one, you can't fail to fall for him.
We headed back to CDH and popped into the garden for a little of lead time, Alf just kept walking around the garden taking interest in the tyres and fountain. We were there for a good 15 mins letting him build up an appetite because we had heard on the grape vine that it was approaching lunchtime.
Becky had prepared his lunch for the day so we settled down in his cage. Now Alf prefers to be hand fed, cheeky man, and my heart skipped a beat when he took a couple of mouthfuls from my hand.
I left him alone for about 15 mins so he could have a bit of piece and quiet, then because I wanted to spend as much time as I could with him we headed out for another walk, this time a little longer.
Watching the wind flow through his fur was so relaxing, he looked like one of the models from a hair care advert. We sniffed, walked and trotted our way around the estate before heading back to CDH for some more chicken.
Thank you Alf for making my year anniversary so special.
x (and of course, I filmed every second !)

Thank you to all my fellow Purple Pilgrims who looked out for the little man this weekend, he has been well and truly spoilt Alf has settled back in at mine this evening, has curled up in bed with Archie and even gave a bark earlier when he heard a neighbours dog! Its the first noise he has made in a week Alf has his appointment at the vets tomorrow so please keep everything crossed for him that its all good news, he has come so far in just a week and he has had some wonderful rehoming offers this weekend. Come on Alf, you show those vets what you are made of, you can do it boy x

Alf is back from the vets with a lot less teeth than when he went and feeling incredibly sorry for himself He has been dozing since we got home with the occasional stumble across the room, doing his best Bambi impression. The vet said his mouth must have been extremely painful bless him. I know he'll be sore for a few days but he'll soon feel so much better. He has a couple more visits to the vets this week and hopefully after that he will be ready for his new life. Thank you so much to everyone for caring about him, it really means a lot. I love this little fella like one of my own and its really touching to know so many people are thinking about him xxx

Alf has had a very full week this week! After his op on Monday he bounced back after just a day and was soon back on the chicken and beef and enjoying his walks again. This little fella is such a fighter He had an important date on Thursday evening with two furry friends, Pippa and Jack, and the humans who spoil them rotten! The meeting went perfectly, Alf tried out their beds and decided he would like those beds permanently and that's where he is right now Yep, Alf trotted off to his new home on Friday, and boy what a home it is! His family love him to bits already and this little man is finally going to get the life he deserves. I tried to tell his new family that me and Alf are a package deal and they could have a buy one get one free, but they just wanted Alf It has been a real honour to be able to help this boy. It has been amazing to see the transformation in him and I am so grateful to Friends of the Dogs Wales for giving Alf this chance. A massive thank you to everyone who donated towards his vets bills and to everyone who was rooting for him. He is one tough cookie! Be happy my boy Alf getting ready to start his new life with his new mum x

We have had THE most lovely update from Alf's family He's amazing, he has put a load of weight on now and tells me to fill up his bowl by sending it spinning across the kitchen floor. He's so funny he maybe blind and old but he can sprint down the path as fast as you like if he thinks you've been shopping! He sniffs out the roast chicken. He loves the bed, the fridge and believe it or not he loves being bathed and blasted ... He comes out of the salon and skids around the house like a puppy but ends up in his bed for the rest of the day whacked out. Please tell everyone he's doing just fine and is hugely loved by all of us xxxxx Oh my little man, you couldnt have asked for a better home x
