Hi, I'm pretty new, did my induction on Sunday 26th June. - I've fell in love with every dog I've walked so far!
I just have a couple of questions. Firstly, is it ok to make treats for the dogs? I make liver cake for my friends dogs and they can't get enough of it. The recipe I use is 500g liver (lambs is my preference), 500g wholemeal flour, 2 eggs, 2 cloves of garlic and a splash or water. Blitz the liver and garlic in a food processor, add the eggs, flour and water. Mix together and either spread on a baking tray or as I do, put into a 9" silicone cake 'tin' and bake at 180oC for about 20-25 minutes. Cool and cut into pieces. I make it in bulk and freeze the extra and just defrost when needed. - for anyone worried about garlic, you can leave it out but I was informed by a vet that a medium sized dog can have up to 2 cloves of garlic a day.
Second question is, is there a thread for Chase and Lara, the liver and white Jack Russels? I can't seem to find it and wanted to write about the lovely walk my wife and I had with them earlier today.

Hi and welcome to our forum Ooooh, nothing wrong with a bit of liver cake I make it for mine, but use ox liver, my dogs would do the ironing for it! The staff do ask that we are sparing with treats on walks, as they try to monitor the dogs' diets, whether they are eating their meals, etc, but we do a treat round on Tuesdays (Chewsdays) when we give all the dogs stuffed hooves, kongs, and other nutritious nibbles to keep them busy! If you are able to join me on a Chewsday let me know! Liver cake is fab for stuffing kongs! Some of the staff make up kongs on the weekends too, and we are always grateful for kong fillers! If you are able to bring some down, could you label and date it, and ask the staff to pop it in the fridge. The dogs will love it Due to the extremely sensitive circumstances in which Lara and Chase came to be in the Dogs Home, we have agreed with the staff that we would not set up rehoming threads for them but if you have pics and stories you can share, please do post them up on our Facebook page Have you managed to get to grips with photobucket yet? Who else have you walked? Looking forward to seeing your pics

Hi,
I haven't attempted to post photo's yet. I'll have a play around with it and see if it works with my mac laptop. I have taken photos of all the dogs and have written 'reviews' - I'll try and add the photos to their threads this weekend. So far I have walked Nala, Storm, Vince and Chase and Lara. My working pattern is usually 9-5 Monday-Friday, however on occasion I can change this. Next Tuesday (chewsday) I should be able to come on the morning for a couple of hours but would need to leave around 10:30am to get to work as for the next couple of weeks I'll be working late on Tuesdays.
I'll be up on Sunday to go for a couple of walks and will get some liver cake made up to give to the staff for the kongs. - can you clarify the times that we can walk the dogs because I was initially told 8-3:30pm - but then read a thread that on some days it can be until 6 and I saw that someone took a dog out at 7am yesterday. I'd love to walk the dogs more often and if I could do it before and after work I would.
