Hi Wendy, Barney has had some interest but I'm not 100% sure if he's found a new owner. He was certainly still at the kennels today. Give them a call tomorrow and have a chat. He is a lovely fella!

It's so sad that a permanent, loving home hasn't been forthcoming for poor little Barneydog. Yes, he has more energy than he knows what to do with, and he's partial to 'exercising' his voice, but once this wee chap has been out for a good long walk, he's an extremely sweet-natured, gentle character. It would be wonderful if Barney's Mr or Ms Right would walk through the gates and he could put the stresses of kennel life behind him. There's someone out there for you Barney boy and hopefully you'll be settled in your new home before long.

I walked this guy Saturday and am in love! I would love to offer him a home - he would thrive in the right environment. Unfortunately, I work full time . I have two JRTs at the moment and my partner and I take it in turns to go home during our lunch breaks but I don't think this meets the requirements. I do look forward to hopefully having the honour of walking him again this Saturday

The sun was shining earlier this week so we decided to get our new doggy paddling pool out at Newport City Dogs Home. Barney volunteered to take the inaugural dip! And loved it! Lots of tail wagging πΆπ

Barney-boy, you were a star, today, and delighted us all. Although a real favourite with regular volunteers, Barney can sometimes put prospective re-homers off with some silly barking when he sees other dogs nearby, but is being restrained on his lead. Despite this, he is a different dog when walked side-by-side with them, so, today, we decided to pop him on a harness and long lead, and let him mix freely with Bas and a new little Pug cross girl, who he had not met before. We could not have been happier with his response. In fact, he treated them like old companions and was more interested in having a good sniff around the enclosure, than in bothering the other dogs. www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS0IQbLigYs&feature=youtu.beHe then met Fleur, the prim and proper Frenchie lady and was the perfect gentleman. Hard to believe that he has been with us for nearly six months. How he has come on in that time!

Had my usual pleasure of walking the beautiful Barney today. Lots of sniffing and snuffling around Coronation Park and loads of rolling around. This is my favourite pic from today

Hello,
We met Barney when we visited the Newport City Dog's Home and had the pleasure of taking him for a walk. He is such a lovely dog with a thirst for life and seemed to enjoy the little run we had with him that afternoon. Though he will require some patience and understanding, we fell in love right away with his fun loving and inquisitive personality. We hope that he will find his loving forever home as he truly is a wonderful little fella.

Poor little Barney was our longest termer for reasons we simply couldn't fathom, so the staff decided to give him a change of scenery. The amazing peeps at Dogs Trust have taken Barney into their tender care and we've heard that he is settling in brilliantly! Our long termers do tend to become 'wallpaper dogs'. It's as if potential rehomers just stop seeing them, and seem to think 'well, if no-one else wants this dog there must be something wrong with him/her'.... Please don't overlook our long-termers, it might be that they are destined to live with YOU and that's why they are still waiting..... Good luck little fella, the Dogs Trust have promised to keep us up to date with Barney's news and we're looking forward to hearing how he's doing.

Hi
Been following Barney, just noticed on Dogs Trust that he has been reserved. Fingers crossed for him as he looks a lovely pup and wish him all the best.
