Please meet the wonderful Ellie. She is no stranger to the Dogs’ Home, having been here before. Very sadly, her original adopter died and Ellie has been passed about from pillar to post ever since. She has lived with other dogs and with 7-8 year-old children, but, unfortunately, needed to be gone before a children’s party and because she moulted. Ellie does have a high chase-instinct, and wouldn't be suitable for a home with kitties or small furries. Usually, us volunteers like different types of dogs, but Ellie is just wonderful. We all wanted to take her home. She is a dog who connects with people. She wants to be with you, and play with you. Ellie is, probably, four to five years old, though she is as active and playful as a puppy, and loves toys and treats. I think that she would excel at fun agility, or any sort of training and would certainly make a great companion for long walks. A fun dog in a small package, Ellie would be great to go with you anywhere. We don’t know if she is a good car traveller but she is certainly a great size for a motorhome or caravan. Ellie is vaccinated, microchipped and spayed. As a hand-in she is ready to go to a new home immediately. Please go and visit her. You will not be disappointed. If you are interested in finding out more about Ellie, please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays. 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 3.30pm Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, and microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs are neutered/spayed aged six months. Subsidised vouchers are available at £35, this is in addition to the rehoming fee.

I have had the pleasure of walking Ellie twice in the last couple of weeks, and both times she has been absolutely lovely. She is lively and very friendly, but also happy to follow me where I was walking her. In her photos it is hard to judge her size, but in person she is small and surprisingly light, as I found when I had to pick her up to cross over a gate in order that we could continue following the Coastal Path walk route. She is very alert, noticing all the sights & sounds around and has a lot of stamina. She also seems very bright. She is also very patient, as I found when I I managed to get us both very lost on our first walk and took us miles out of our way. She didn't panic or look worried (unlike me) but seemed to have faith that I would find the way home (and amazingly I did). Lovely dog, very responsive.

I can only echo the post above and add that Ellie is a real favourite, not only with me, but with many of the volunteers. Whenever I visit the home, I am always amazed to see little Ellie still there. A happy, responsive and active little dog in a really compact body, I'm sure that you would really struggle to wear her out, yet she wouldn't take up much room in a car or caravan and is very easy to lift over stiles and other obstructions. I took her for a walk along the riverside, today and it was a joy, as always.

Hi Wendy!
Thank you so much for popping down with Ellie yesterday. She looks amazing! 😀
It's great to hear all that you've been up to and that she's keeping you busy!
Keep doing what you're doing because it's obviously working well!
