Oh! My! Days!!!!! Look who arrived at the Home just as we were leaving yesterday .......
Please give a verrrrry warm welcome to our pups, Ziggy and Laney
We had already packed away our camera equipment, so could only get a few snaps on our mobiles, but we couldn't resist sharing these scrummy lickle 'uns with you!
The pups have been well cared for, and seem to be very happy and well socialised. They are inquisitive and lively as a box of frogs!
Ziggy (left) and Laney are 4 month old siblings who have been signed over to the Home due to a change of circumstances. Ziggy is by far the biggest of the two, he has a gorgeous shaggy coat! And Laney is a very petite smooth haired little girl. They are collie/terrier mix, and we are assured that they are brother and sister, although we're not seeing much in the way of family resemblance!
The pups can't go out for walkies yet as they haven't completed their course of puppy vaccinations, but the staff are taking applications on them and visitors are welcome to meet them in the Rehoming Hub.
We expect the puppies will attract a lot of rehoming interest, but please consider very carefully whether you actually want to take on a puppy before applying for them. Please don't ask 'How big will they grow'? We simply don't know! If size matters and you really don't want to end up with a fairly large dog, please consider adopting a fully grown young dog instead. Pip collie was just as cute and tiny as Ziggy 8 months ago!
Full time workers will not be considered for the pups, as they will need lots of time, patience and training during their first year to help them become the fabulous doggy citizens they are destined to be.
Suitable applicants will be homechecked, and the staff will take up veterinary references from all applicants. Successful rehomers will also be required to provide evidence that the pups are booked onto recognised and accredited puppy classes, (so maybe do a bit of homework before you come to visit)! and it is a condition of adoption that the pups are neutered when they are old enough. The cost is included in the adoption fee.
Yes, they are utterly adorable, but please remember, all our dogs were cute puppies once, and if you don't actually want a fully grown dog, don't get a puppy! Because that's exactly what you will have in a year's time, a fully grown dog!
The pups will be available to rehome from Monday 13th and if you want more information or would like to meet them please contact the staff at Newport City Dog's Home on 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm -4pm Monday to Saturday or pop in for a visit!
Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include first vaccination, flea and worm treatment, and a microchip. It is a condition of the rehoming contract that all dogs neutered/spayed when they are old enough, the cost is included in the adoption fee, and the staff will follow up to ensure this is done.
