Please welcome the verrrrry handsome Sidney! Sidney arrived at the Home today from a neighbouring local authority, where he has been unlucky in love and had no rehoming interest. So the staff at Cardiff Dogs Home offered Sidney a change of scenery, and a chance to meet new people. Sounds like a plan eh Sidders? We met Sidney for a quick play date while he was being assessed by staff member Dale. Friendly? I'll say he is! Sidney is a lurve machine! Sidney is quite high-energy, but at the same time seems like a really steady-eddy sorta guy! Lovely manners, and a smile to warm the cockles of your heart! As he has been signed over to the Home, Sidney is available for rehoming immediately. If you would like more information, or would like to meet him, please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I walked this cheeky chappy today and I couldn't fault him. He had quite a bit of interest from the public and he lapped up the attention. He is so laid back and so affectionate. We went on a little trot then stopped for a few minutes afterwards as he's not the athletic type but you can't fault a trier hehe. He lovessss cwtches and cuddles and always checks and looks back at you. He loves his walks and has a massive smile on his face constantly, honestly this wonderful guy is faultless and I wish I could take him home with me. When Sydney chooses his furever family they won't know how lucky they are. He is such a wonderful dog. However until then I'll walk him and take him on adventures, even though I do call him a baby Rhino he's absolutely adorable and deserves only the best 💜💜💜

I'd read a bit about Sidney on the forum and when I saw he hadn't been out I was so excited to take him, I don't think I realised how chunky Sidney actually was until he came out. Rob did warn me that he was a bit of a powerhouse but he was a really lovely dog. Out trotted Sidney, no jumping was fairly content! So we started off down the lane and I went to give him a cuddle so I crouched down and called him over - his love machine side came straight out and he put his front paws on my legs which actually pushed me flat on my bum bear in mind it had been raining so I had a soggy bottom, I just started laughing and Sidney just wanted to know where his fuss was! Sidney walked fantastically walking next to me for the majority of the walk, he really is a muscular dog but blooming heck he's adorable. Further on in the walk i went to give him some more fuss (bracing myself a bit more this time) and he galloped over and just rested his head against me....then adjusted himself and put his whole body weight against me, it was so sweet! Then we got to the bench so he could have some water, don't think he was that thirsty though as he just jumped straight on my lap, trying to squeeze on. Honestly a massive softie, licking my face and rubbing against me. He was fab, such a handsome boy too, gosh I hope he finds his forever home soon!!!!

Hi everyone it's me again Sidney the English Bull Terrier cross 😎😎😎😎😎 I missed Alex last week because she ran the 10k, but it's okay I'll let her off, it was for a wonderful charity, well done Al 😚 I was out for my first walk with Alex this morning and boy was it a long one 😂 We set out early because it was cooler, as I don't really like walking in the sun much I get sooooooo tired but I don't give up hehe. Alex called me mad Sids as I'm like a Karate dog jumping on big rocks and things. I love it. I also saw Tessa the sheep dog and I took quite a shine to her but she wasn't interested in me one bit, I kept looking back at her wishing she'd do the same but she never 💔 Alex said I shouldn't worry as I can't help the way I look, and one day I'll find the right person hehehe. I also saw some canoes on the lake and to be honest, I wasn't interested in them in the slightest 😂😆 What I am interested in though is having big Sidney cuddles just for me, everyone at the home gives the best ones. To be honest I'd just rather people watch and have cuddles all day 🤗🤗🤗🤗 I also like to check your see if Alex is there on my walk, although she talks to me all the time I kind of forget what she's going on about and always have to keep checking to see if she's okay hehe. Lots of love and big Sidney cuddles, they are the best you know 💜💜💜💜

Took this handsome chap out early this morning and sidders was ready on go. He loves his walks and despite his size he walks so well on the lead. Although, when he does sniff out something interesting he does pull a little bit nothing you can't handle 😊 However, Sidders has clocked on and knows when we're walking back to the home so he just decides to lie down on the floor and not move 😂😂 That's an English Bull for you, stubborn!!!! Although with a little tug he does eventually move 😂 He absolutely adores people and wants nothing but cwtches and cuddles. On our walks I always stop and have a quiet sit down, he loves a good people watch and generally loves being close to you. When you sit down he has to be touching you and cwtches right in. Sidders I wouldn't change you for the world, and your furever family will be here in no time gorgeous boy 🤗🤗💙💙

Took Sidders out again this morning and I love this chap so much. He does pull a little going up the lane as he is SOOOOOOO exited to be out so you can't blame him really. Whenever I take Sidney out something always seems to happen on our walk, last week he stopped outside the wine store on the main road and wouldn't move as he wanted to go inside (I don't blame him really, but it wasn't wine o'clock just yet) hehe. With a pull he does eventually come 😜 Today, he knocked the poo bin over at the top of the lane because he was so exited to be be out and about. All he wants is cwtches and cuddles, he loves to cuddle in and just watch people go by, that's all this gorgeous boy wants. He wants company and someone who will people watch with him. Sidders I wouldn't change you one bit and I wonder what adventure we"ll go on tomorrow 💙💙💙💙

We took Sidney out today and were totally surprised at what a softie he is! We were warned that he is a strong boy, and it's not wrong; Sidney has muscles on muscles but, when we approached him, he jumped straight up on me and we had a lovely first-meet cuddle. He does pull on the lead when first leaving because he is so excited, but he settles down and walks nicely once he's sure he's going to get a decent walk! Sidney is definitely a people watcher. He chooses to watch everything that moves rather than sniffing the ground on his walks. He is also keen to make sure both of us (myself and my partner) were both with him at all times; when my partner took him for a jog, Sidney would constantly look back at me to make sure I was still coming along. What a gent! Sidney really is a bundle of love. When we sat down on a bench, he immediately jumped up and tried to squeeze on both of our laps at once. Cue much fussing and cuddling! He is a little stubborn when it comes to coming home - if he had his way he'd be out all day - and would simply lay on the floor. Ultimately though, he would prefer to have company than stay there, so it didn't take long for him to get going again when he saw me walking ahead. He is such an affectionate dog, and would be the most loyal and loving companion to anyone who could spare the time to love him!

Hi everyone I had such a good day today me and Alex went on another adventure. Alex said that if I was a good boy she'd take me to Starbucks to have a pupachino and guess what? I was on my bestest of best behaviour, I didn't pull on the lead after I went up the lane (Alex thought she'd make a compromise with me as I'm always rearing to go once I get out of my kennel but I soon calmed 😎) We then went over Grangemoor and I saw a few dogs, some of them were off lead and I was interested at first but I soon moved on. Alex always says that not everyone is going to like me, I just think that everyone is my friend so I always want to say hi to them. SO then after being on my best behaviour Alex took me for a Starbucks pupachino 🤗🤗 I was so exited, you couldn't get the smile off my face. It made my day 😊 After that we sat and had a good people watch and cuddles because after all that's my most favourite thing to do, I'm a big softie at heart 💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

Did my induction today and popped my dog-walking cherry at CDH with this big beautiful boy, Sidney. Couldn't have asked for a nicer dog.
Despite being as strong and powerful as an ox (he will take you for a walk, so be prepared!), he has an ultra-calm, soft, and all-round lovely temperament. A pleasure to walk - he's got real charisma!
Although the rules are to keep all of the dogs from CDH on a leash and away from other canines, the biggest challenge walking Sidney is doing just this. Sidney is so friendly that absolutely every dog and owner he walks past he is just dying to go up to them, say hello, and introduce himself with a lick! Being as strong as he is, this can be tough work keeping Sid away, but them's the rules (and for a valid reason, I know).
Do not let that deter you, though. If a lucky someone were to re-home Sid, then it's for certain that they'd have one of the most friendly and sociable dogs in the whole park (perhaps in the whole of Wales!?).
Sidney would love to give his heart up to the right person, you can just tell.

I took sidders home a few weeks ago and safe to say he behaved really well 😊 It takes about 20/25 mins to get to my house in the car and for the last 5 minuets of the journey sidders did get a little restless in the car but I soon distracted him with some treats hehe. He's not a bit fan of confined spaces but he's okay if he's distracted with something. Once inside the house he had a good sniff of everything as all dogs do with new places, and all he wanted to do was just lay on the sofa and have a cwtch like a proper cuddler. I think he was just so great greatful to have a little time away from the kennels. He has to be touching you at all times and when you sit down he will try and get as close to you as possible. So we stayed a little in the house and watched some tv and sidders was very content with this. Although, he did get a little restless and decided he wanted to go for a walk so I took him for an adventure around the and he loved the new surroundings. He's not fussed on cats though as we soon found out, but don't worry no cats were harmed heheheh. I really hope Sidney finds his furever family sooner rather than later, he is such a character he deserves the best 😊💜💜

The more I walk Sid squid the more I fall in love with him. Let's make no qualms about this he's a strong boy, he comes out like an express train and finishes his walk like a steam train. He's a bright boy and very loving too with a zest for life. As the above write up says he's very good in the house and just looking for a family of his own. If you love them big and cuddly then Sid is your man. Big man I love our walks but I hope someone wants to walk you all for themselves because you deserve it. Love you mate xx Hard work being this cool

Took this BIG bundle of handsomeness on a walk yesterday, What a lovely boy! such a gentleman, and so friendly. We had never met each other before but whilst on a walk Sidney listened to me and constanltly checked that I was still close by. We had a lovely walk and although Sidders doesn't like other dogs too much (I don't like other people too much) it was never a problem when we passed another dog or if a dog was barking at Sydney. Sydney is a big, strong boy but is soft as anything, he would make a wonderful, loyal family dog, he loves people and all he wants is a little bit of affection. He is just a pleasure to be with. I'm looking forward to taking Sidders out again tomorrow (but I hope you're not there too long mate!). Looking up Sydneys history and he hasn't had any re-homing interest from his last council authority and that's why he's now at Cardiff. I can't believe no-body has taken you home yet Sydney mate! There is a family with a Sidney size whole that needs filling they just don't know it yet! If I could I have have Sydney home with me tomorrow I would!!!!

I walked Sidney today, what an absolute charmer. Yes he was excited to be out and he does pull on the lead - a bit of training and that can be addressed. He is very affectionate, likes to look back and check you are keeping up, decides on the pace of the walk which varies between fast and stop! It was a very warm day, and I didn't take enough care over his water, so between to two of us we spilt it. So we just lazed under a tree to cool down for a while until Sidney found his oomph, and we headed back to the kennels. This boy has bags of personality, and he just makes you happy the whole time you are walking with him. He deserves a very special home.

Took Sidders out today and I love this pup so much. He does get a little exited when he comes out of the kennels, and pulls up the lane but I bet he's just thinking freedom!!!!! Hehe. After this if you gently pull on the lead and tell him 'no' or 'stop' he does listen. Yes English bulls are very stubborn and most of the time act as if they can't hear you, but don't be fooled 😂😂 Sidders is a big cuddle monster and that's all he wants to do is just sit down and have some cuddles with you. He is very affectionate and just loves company. He's one in a million and his furever home is out there somewhere.. Good things come to those who wait and Sidney has waited and waited. Don't worry Sidders your furever family will be here in no time ❤❤❤
