Oh my, how pretty are you ? Jess is an eight month old lurcher pup who was brought into the Home today, as an unwanted pet. She has been living with four children and a middle-aged Staffie, but the family decided that they didn't want the dogs any more. We just can't fault this girl, at the moment. She is great with both people and dogs, has settled really quickly and is extremely calm and easy-going, for such a youngster. Jess is already fully vaccinated, chipped and spayed. As a hand-in, she is free to leave immediately. She is certainly a real gem for anyone looking for a kind, sensible lurcher to be their best mate. If you are interested in finding out more about Jess, please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays. 11am - 1pm or 2pm - 3.30pm Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog.

Has Jess been cat tested? And do you know what she is crossed with? Thank you!

Hi Sian. Best to give the home a ring, as I'm not aware that Jessie has met the resident cat yet. I think that she is probably has collie in her breeding, as well as either whippet or greyhound.

Sorry, I know I don't know the specific circumstances in Jess's case, but I find it hard to understand some of the reasons people offer for giving up their dogs.......why would you suddenly not want your dogs any more? Aren't they family members too? Anyway, I'm glad Jess has come into the care of Newport Dogs Home which, I'm told, is a real safe haven. Just been slightly concerned about what might have happened to the staffie who used to live with Jess - really hope he or she has found sanctuary somewhere too?

Had the pleasure of meeting Jess today, and giving her a walk. She was so excited to be out in the sunshine & in the park, but she still listened & sat when asked - even offered her paw! I have applied for her and do so hope she will be coming home with us next time we meet.

Ooh that's lovely news! Jess really is a sweet girl and although initially subdued when she arrived, she has settled into kennel life and shown just what a bundle of fun & love she can be. We'll keep our fingers crossed for her!! 😊 Do pop down again to meet her whilst waiting to hear from your application. Had the pleasure of meeting Jess today, and giving her a walk. Jess has been returned to Newport City Dogs Home - a little bit older, but none the wiser Jess hasn't put a paw wrong, but her rehomer didn't really appreciate the work that needs to put in during a young dog's early life. Jess is as beautiful as ever, she has put on a few unwanted pounds, but our fab volunteers are helping her get back into shape. As she has been signed over, Jess is available for rehoming immediately, so if you'd like to meet her pop in to Newport City Dogs Home soon!

Morning , Can I ask a few questions please, We have just lost our bull lurcher and our rescue staffie x is missing him , the only problem is Murphy isn't dog aggressive, as he has lived with two other dogs but he is reactive when he first meets a dog when on a lead . We are doing training with him and we have managed to come such along way but I am worried how we could do an introduction without stressing out both dogs. Jess Looks like a good candidate but we wouldn't want to cause a problem. we live in Wiltshire. can you offer us any advice?

Hi tracy1, Best thing to do would be to call the home on 01633 290902 tomorrow (11am-1pm & 2-4pm) and the staff there can offer some advice regarding this and specifically Jess. Good luck! Kate

Jess is a beautiful busy dog with a lovely nature. She is one of the dogs I walked a few weeks ago on a visit to the home to look for a new addition to our family. I really hope she finds a loving home soon.
