Please say Szervusz! to Obi!
That's Hungarian for 'Hi there'!
Obi is a smiley little frenchie fella, who arrived as a stray. He was scanned for a microchip, and does have one but it's a foreign 'chip, registered in Hungary (we think) and it's not possible to retrieve owners details from foreign chips.
Without a doubt Obi is one of the thousands of puppies imported from European puppy farms to be sold on via puppy traders to buyers in the UK. Frenchies are very much in vogue at the moment, and suppliers are flooding the market with poorly bred, genetically weak pups to fulfil the current 'need' for Frenchies. But we are seeing more and more of these poor dogs in rescues and rehoming centres all over the UK
Obi doesn't seem in the least bit bothered about his recent change of circumstances! He was happy as you like to stretch his legs in the garden!
Although he had literally just arrived when we met him today, he has settled into the routine of kennel life verrrrry quickly! He is eager to make friends, both two legged and four legged!
Obi seems in good condition generally. His nails are verrrrrry long which seems to indicate he isn't used to being walked much, neither has he had a manicure anytime recently, and his fur seems healthy apart from a small balding patch near his tail which could be due to fleas, but which will hopefully heal up in no time with some appropriate meds and baths.
If you'd like to wake up to this adorable little face every morning, pop along to meet him at Newport City Dogs Home!
If you'd like to know more or would like to meet Obi please contact the staff on 01633 290902, or pop up during opening hours. Between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays.
If his owners don't come forward to claim him, Obi will be available for rehoming from 24th August, but the staff will take applications on him immediately.
Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.
