Aw Albie - what a beautiful boy you are Albie arrived recently as a stray, and it's fair to say he was a little world-weary when he first came in. Underweight, even for a pointy boy his hips were far too prominent and his ribs were showing through his skin, and he bears a few scars on his face, it's anyone's guess how he got these But he's a fine figure of a dog, and clearly bears no grudges to people or dogs. Albie has been a perfect gentleman from the minute he landed. He was quite solemn and reserved at first.. But once he realised he was amongst friends we soon began to see Albie's inner puppy! He had a five-minutes-of-madness zoomies around the garden, far too quick for the shutter speed of our camera! Then Albie really began to relax, and soak up the friendly Newport atmos! Albie has been rewarding us with his gorgeous greyhound smiles ever since! Greyhounds and pointies can be the perfect companion for older folk, and those who don't want to go climbing Pen y Fan every weekend. They can be fabulously gentle walking companions, and many greyhounds are quite happy with a fairly laid-back lifestyle. If you'd like to meet Albie please contact the staff on 01633 290902, or pop up during opening hours. Between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.

Hi Helen. I'm pretty certain that Albie has a home lined up but suggest that you give the Dogs' Home a ring on Monday, to check that this is still the case.

After more than six months in his 'forever home' Albie has been returned due to a change of circumstances. He hasn't changed, he's still the lovely fella that left us, and we hoping he won't be waiting long to meet the right family.

Albie is gorgeous. Do you have any idea how old he is?
We had Fern from you about a year ago and we are seriously considering a friend for her. Some company to cuddle up too and to zoom with when outdoors x

Hi Emma How wonderful to hear that you are considering adopting a pal for Fern! We don't know Albie's exact age, he's kinda in the Goldilocks zone, not too young and not too old, but just right Albie is a very discerning fella, he has lived as an 'only child' and we really don't know how he would feel about sharing his peeps, but there's only one way to find out so if you'd like to pop up to Newport with Fern we can always ask him! Lee greyhound has been returned to Cardiff Dogs Home as he was rehomed as an 'only child' and he really really missed the company of other dogs. He's a sensitive dog and is much more confident with other dogs around, so he might be an option too! HEREGood luck in your search - let us know how you get on!

Just wanted to give this boy a push up the posts. Having adopted tinsel in December I thought a few thoughts on these breads to help him to find a forever home 😄 if you want a loveing loyal breed of dog look no further. Tinsel was shy and timed when we picked her up but with in days she became the most Kissiest dog you could meet (also lazy) 🤣up to 20 hours a day snooze!! But also loves walks and food. They are a delight to be around. If you want to walk for miles at a time probably not the dog for you, but if you like a good stroll a few times a day and have zoomie space also a nice chair/bed/settee then they are in there oils, please consider this lovely boy, we have no regrets about our gorgeous girl. Don’t know now how we managed without her 😍

Just back from walking Alone. No selfies, as I can't compare to how beautiful he is! Great walker, patient, stays by your side until there's something to be sniffed, then gently leads you towards his target! No hint of a pull, no barking, intrigued by other dogs but happy to be led away. So soft to the touch, and ever so sweet. Someone is going to get a cracking pet, hopefully sometime soon.
