Och Hamish! You're a handsome little fella!
Hamish was signed over to Newport City Dogs Home following the death of his elderly owner. The family were very honest about Hamish's past, he hasn't enjoyed the best of home comforts, hasn't visited the vets in a very long time, and he is a little hand-shy and foot-shy due to some rough handling.
But immediately following his owners death Hamish was taken in by a relative and under their tender care he has already started to blossom into a fabulously friendly and trusting little dog. He lived for 3 weeks with his temporary family who very much wanted to keep him but knew it wasn't the right time for them to take in a dog permanently. But for perhaps the first time in his life he experienced pure love and affection, and the little guy who was brought to us on Wednesday is definitely putting his past behind him and rediscovering his inner puppy at the age of 9 years!
Hamish has settled into the routine of kennel life really well, and when we brought him out for his pictures today he was an absolute delight! He loves toys....
And he loves to engage you in a game of tuggy too!
Hamish has had a fab time meeting his fellow residents as well as the staff and volunteers, he was verrrrry excited and happy to meet some of our younger Pilgrims! Hamish can't wait to meet his forever peeps!
If you'd like to meet Hamish please contact the staff on 01633 290902, or pop up during opening hours. Between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays.
Rehoming fees are from £100 - £200 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.
