Please welcome Alfie
Alfie has been signed over to the home through absolutely no fault of his own. He is just a youngster, around 18 months of age.
It seems Alfie has had a confusing and difficult upbringing, with not enough attention, training and socialisation, and very mixed messages and poor and inappropriate handling of some of his fear behaviours. We have been told that Alfie 'doesn't like men' (or anyone dressed like a man)
But I didn't have to put a skirt on to win Alfie's trust!
He has greeted everyone who has approached him appropriately (including some of our male volunteers and visitors) with perfect manners. Alfie's catchphrase is 'Let's Play'!
Alfie loves his ball and will bring it back to you a thousand times!
Good catch Alfie!!!
Alfie is expecting visitors this week. He's going to try out with the professional sniffer dogs, and if Alfie was born to work rather than be a family pet we've got our paws crossed he will make the grade!
But if Alfie decides that all he needs is a loving home with an outdoorsy life and plenty of exercise, he will be looking for an active and loving home that will help him channel his energy and become the fabulous dog he is destined to be. The staff will be looking for an experienced home and owners who are prepared to be patient and help Alfie 'unlearn' some of his responses to scarey situations and rough handling.
Alfie is a very active and lively dog - and he can leap a tall building in a single bound! (probably)
If you'd like to meet Alfie, please contact the staff on 01633 290902 to check whether the staff are taking applications on him, and please watch this page for updates on how Cooper's job interview goes!
The Home is open between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays.
Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.
