Please welcome our newest arrival at Newport City Dogs Home
Howdee Huey
This fab little fella has been signed over to the Home by his owners. He was bred in Carmarthen, Huey is about 9 months old, and for at least the first three months of his life he lived in a shed, so Huey missed out on a very important and formative part of his puppyhood. He sometimes finds the world a bit overwhelming, so it's going to be 'back to basics' for Huey in his new home! Huey will need verrrrrry gentle and kind consistency to learn to trust his new peeps.
He's a quick learner, and more importantly Huey is very keen to try to understand and interpret what's being asked of him. That exaggerated head-tilt says it all!
Huey has lived with another dog - who struggled to cope with this busy pup because he couldn't find Huey's off-switch, but Huey made friends with old-timer Bas and the two have been besties since the moment they met! Huey seems to like having an good, older role model around, as well as a playmate!
C'mon boys - let's have a bit of fun on the run!
Go Huey!!!!
Huey behaved impeccably with Bas, play-bowing, chasing, and just being 'dog'!
Huey is still under assessment and the staff and vols will be trying to get to know him a little better over the coming days so we can work out what sort of home would be perfect for this little fella. He is a little vocal, and sometimes does 'anxiety wees' if he is over-excited, but he's still just a puppy! He will probably benefit from having someone around for most of the time for the next 6 months or so. Huey has lived with children and a kitty, but as he would benefit from a very calm and consistent environment he probably wouldn't be suitable for a household with very young children.
If you'd like to meet Huey please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME for more information. TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Please note - Huey probably isn't suitable for a first time dog owner, and a vet reference will be required if you'd like to apply to adopt him.
Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment, neutering and microchip.
