Well hellooooooo handsome! Leo is one of 8 dogs that were signed over to Cardiff Dogs Home from a nearby Dogs Home this week. Even though none of these beauts will be rehomed before Christmas, they were all very keen to get their pictures done for their rehoming profiles, so it was a bit of speed-date session this week! Leo made it very easy for us - he loves the camera - and the camera loves him! And we'll forgive that splash of pate on Leo's nose - he does rather like the good stuff! Just to make our newbies feel welcome, we gave them an early Christmas present. Go on Leo - help yourself fella! Leo chose the stuffed turkey Leo will be having a lovely Christmas dinner on 25th, with real turkey and all the trimmings! Our fab volunteers know how to make our dogs feel at home! If you'd like to meet Leo please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. We took the lovely Leo out for a walk yesterday. Well I say walk, more like a hump. He is one very amorous boy!
We couldn't go far due to the constant humping, but he loved being out and seemed desperate for a good old run, but my legs couldn't keep up.
He is a lovely dog and will be a lot calmer once he's had his old boy seen to
My kids thought he was hilarious x

I walked the lovely Leo yesterday and enjoyed my time with him so much that I went back today to take him out again. He doesn’t try to hump as he did previously. Maybe he didn’t fancy me but I think he has moved on from that bad habit. We went for a bit of window shopping around Cardiff Bay, quick look in Pets at Home for a drink but the bowl was empty. He seemed very happy looking around and displayed no bad habits at all. I have an elderly lurcher and they need plenty of exercise and have an amazing nature. Good luck Leo in finding an active family to be your forever family.

We took Leo out briefly last week. He is beautiful , real treat for lurcher peeps like us! Unfortunately he likes to chew on his lead and play tuggy so we had to bring him back relatively soon as he was not willing to let go. Must be very boring in the kennel all day, Leo, we know! Hope you don't have to wait much longer!

Walked Leo for over an hour on Tuesday, around Bay Retail Park then back along the river. Walked him again on Thursday for two hours, through parks, into Penarth and around the shops. Called at a friend’s house for a quick drink of water. Went through the park and he was jealous of ball throwers, and he didn’t once jump for the lead. Hope he is not getting bad habits. Good luck Leo.

Another lovely two hour walk with Leo today. Bumped into a cat and no reaction from Leo so I am guessing he would be ok with cats. We came very close to one last week and he didn’t react. He was well behaved on the lead and around Penarth. Will be back tomorrow to take you out again Leo.

I have been walking Leo for two hours once or twice a week for a months. Obviously over the months some training has been going on because he is now a well behaved dog. He has stopped jumping at his lead, he lets bikes and motorbikes pass without taking any notice of them and he is now just a happy lovely dog to walk. He is friendly, loves strangers coming up to him and shows no aggression to other dogs. We have passed cats in Penarth and he didn’t react, just looked at them. This lovely dog has been in the home some time, he would make a great family pet. I think he needs his long walks but will give so much pleasure. Good luck Leo.

It was lovely to read of Leo’s progress, seems he’s coming along just fine. As is the case with many animal fanatics I have quite a large and varied furry family already and find it hard to find a dog which fits my family or he would definately be a contender! Thanks for the update ,sounds like he’s coming into his own and will make a great addition for a family out there ☀️

We’ve been walking Leo regularly since he arrived, and although he has improved he can still be a bit naughty when out and about. He will still occasionally react to bikes and other dogs, although far less than he used to. He listens well, will wait patiently when crossing roads and does a lovely sit for a tasty treat. He will do a very sweet lean into your legs when you get back to the yard too, as if to say thanks for the walk and enjoys a bit of a fuss. He can be a bit full on when the mood takes him, but if your confident with him and let him know you’re not going to put up with his nonsense he settles into a nice walk. Despite his occasional naughty moments, I love him to bits and he will make someone a fabulous companion. He just needs a patient and loving home to see what a wonderful dog he is.

Love him too. Walk him once or twice a week for two hours and he loves his time out. Took him to Cardiff Bay last week. Was really busy. We watched the carousel, went to the cafe for a drink and pushed our way through people and children on scooters. No problem at all. He just needs some activity and love. He would make a great family pet.

"A shelter dog is not a loser. He has succeeded in everything he tried to do, in escaping from the yard, in tearing up the living room, in destroying the furniture. He is in this strange environment, the shelter, and he's still happy. He sees himself as a winner, not a loser. I see him as a dog with a great giving personality, who's going to try and try and try until he wins". Mark Harden, "Hollywood" dog trainer Leo, you are definitely a winner
