Just thought I'd introduce myself. I live here in Cardiff and have had dogs nearly all my life as the family dog was born about 5 months before me - that was Taffy a corgi/mutt cross and we grew up as puppies together (!) She died when I was 14 and my parents wouldn't get another dog so I had to give my love to all the dogs I knew in the neighbourhood. As soon as i got my own house in 1988 I got Ivy, who came from CDH. She was a whippet/JRT cross (like a JRT on stilts) who was about 6 months old when picked up by the warden in Canton. She was very lacking in confidence but as the years went by she became a very affectionate girl who loved everyone. She crossed the rainbow bridge when she was 19ish!
I am now mum to Oscar, a papillon, who despite having had the snip is a bit of a hit with the lady dogs in the park ;D He and Ivy overlapped for about a year and although she wasn't interested in cuddles with him, she always wanted to know what he was doing and looked for him (even though she was blind at the end). Oscar has various girlfriends, especially lady pugs and JRTs,but the love of his life is an old english sheepdog who lives around the corner. He stands underneath her adoring her :Dbut she doesn't know he exists as she is usually mugging my pockets for treats! I am looking out for a little puggy sister for him - I would have one of the lovely staffies in CDH, but think the size/power difference might be a bit dangerous however loving to other dogs the staffie might be.
Don't have any pix of Ivy or Oscar on this computer but will post later.
