Please welcome Rocky This handsome youngster has only recently arrived at the Home, and he is still a little unsettled, so we kept our date short and sweet. Rocky is only a year old, and he's a little on the slender side. Rocky is a young adolescent and has some growing and filling out to do. He was verrrrrry eager to taste our treats and we're not sure whether his rather casual disregard for fingers was because he was hungry, or because he hasn't fully grasped the concept of gentle manners. So we were sure to dispense Rocky's tit-bits on the floor, rather than from our hands The staff will prefer a breed experienced home for Rocky. Northern breeds are definitely not the dog for a first time pet owner. They need lots of exercise, and most responsible northern breed owners never let them off-lead, as they have been genetically engineered to rise with the sun, find the horizon, and keep running! Huskies are also known to have a high prey drive, so homes with small furries are probably not a good idea. For more information please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. I enjoyed a walk with this stunning boy on Tuesday afternoon. Rocky is such a bundle of fun, he loves playing and chasing the ball....he had me running up the lane kicking the ball for him to catch it!! He is a young lad though and appears to have missed out on some basic training as a pup, he is strong willed and independent but I do feel he is easily trainable. He is a such a lovely boy and I observed him being affectionate to a more familiar face to him. A lovely boy, charming, independent and a little bit cheeky....but loveable I cant seem to add pics at the moment but will try again later

Oh, Rocky! I am almost certain we were unlucky enough to be asked for directions to the dog home by your previous owner 2-3 weeks ago. As soon as I saw a Husky in the back of the car I thought to myself "please, let it be for a meet & greet" But I don't think it was... I don't have tons of experience with Northern breeds outside of having walked a few from CDH (Shadow, Apache), but Rocky seemed to have similar to their temperaments where he just wants to go wherever he wants to go and you just kinda have to follow his lead. My partner did make sure he didn't let Rocky pull him around too much though, as he needs a bit of discipline he's missed out on in his puppy-hood. I am sure no one stopped him from climbing up furniture, for example, because as soon as we reached the tables & benches in the park his first step was to jump straight onto the table and look majestic in the sun. While it was funny for us, I am sure it will be a challenge to overcome at home. Rocky has the potential to find his inner silly Husky spirit, but at the moment he just feels a bit distanced & non-socialised. The right person will definitely be able to socialise & teach him the basics though! Rocky is so young! If you are at a point in your life where you have the time to bring up a young Husky from his first years, you will be in for a treat! I don't think it's necessary to even mention how gorgeous he is too... Good luck, Rocky!

Just got back from walking this handsome boy. Just look at him! He is one of the most beautiful dogs Iβve ever had the pleasure of walking, and was so well-behaved too. He waited patiently at the traffic lights, walked right beside me, and was so inquisitive about the world around him. He's a beautiful boy who's eager to explore, smell the flowers and (if allowed) chase a squirrel or two. Heβll make a great addition to any family.

What a lively, lovely boy! Rocky and I stepped out in the pouring rain today for a spot of speed walking!!!! A typical Husky, he was out front the whole time pulling me up the hill! He was very interested in other dogs and pulled towards them but no aggression shown. Had a fab walk with him and I hope he finds the right home soon xx

Hi everyone I'm Rocky and yes I'm a Husky hehehe.. I've been here at the Hotel for quite a while now but don't worry I am most definitely settling in and some may say I have come on leaps and bounds from when I first arrived π€π€π€ Alex said apparently I'm one of her favourites as I am just fabulous and sassy hehehe. We went on a two hour walk yesterday and I loved it. Alex said I'm one of the best pups to walk and, believe it or not I do actually listen to Alex even though I give her a massive side eye πππ We came across a burger van and I wanted a burger so much but Alex told me 'No βπ So I sat and people watched instead. We also came across some of my friends from the Hotel and I wanted to play with them sooooooo much π€π€π€π€π€π€ Can't wait to go out again today and try my luck with getting a burger hehehehehehe π€ππππππ

Hi everyone it's Rocky here again and since Alex's last post we have been on lots of adventures, I don't know why she didn't update you sooner instead of being lazy π Don't worry I've had a word and I'm going to put a stop to her laziness hehehe. We've been back to see the people in the burger van, I tried my best but nope still didn't have a burger, instead I tried to eat some Bumble Bees and Alex nearly had a heart attack π We came across some nasty Swan things who puffed up all their feathers, I didn't know where to look ππ Alex said I'm getting better whilst greeting other dogs as well because I get so so so exited, I just want to play and I think everyone would like me hehehe. We met Cookie out on our walk one day and you never guess what, it went so well. Although, after a little while I couldn't contain my excitement anymore and I playfully biffed her on the head with my paw ππ€£π€£π€£ I just wanted to play π€£π€£ Cookie took it all in her stride and I bet she thought what's that silly husky doing ππ€π€π€ I love treats and have wonderful manners with a sit and paw. I am also really good at waiting at traffic lights even if they take agesssssss. Alex said she doesn't know how I'm still here, just like my other friends. Don't worry though my time will come, I can't help it if I'm fussy with who I pick hehehehe. Lots of love Rocky π€π€π€
