Please give a very warm Friends welcome to the utterly gorgeous Gemma This beautiful young girl arrived at Newport City Dogs Home on Wednesday. But she very nearly died that day The staff received an urgent telephone call from our vets. Gemma's owner had asked them to euthanise her. She was being left crated for up to 13 hours a day, and was toiletting in her crate. Her owner felt this wasn't acceptable and wanted to have her pts Luckily for Gemma the staff didn't hesitate, and Gemma is now loving her new lease of life! She is a little on the portly side and has virtually no muscle mass due to lack of exercise... But she is full of fun, and loving the fuss and attention she is getting from the staff and volunteers! Gemma may be a little bit on the back paw regarding her basic training. She loves her walks but it seems being on a lead is a bit of a novelty to her. No matter! At just 10 months of age Gemma is still little more than a puppy, and she is bright and eager to learn new things! Including how not to overwhelm the oldies at the home Gemma has it all to look forward to now. We let her freestyle around the garden, and she was rolling around, doing summersaults, but despite having the freedom to do her own thing she just kept coming back for more tummy tickles and a spot of loving. Seems like it's a whole new experience for her! If you'd like to meet Gemma please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment.

Hi, we had a visit to see the adorable Gemma Friday afternoon. Staff were brilliant in showing us around even though they were short staffed. Since which I have't been able to get her out of my head. Staff mentioned she has to be seen by the vet again, as there may be a problem with her leg. I will phone on Monday to get an update on Gemma, let's just hope it's muscle waste due to being created. She stole my heart. Good luck little grill.
Love and hugs,
Julie

I called 2 weeks ago and got told someone was taking her so I couldn't come and visit. Has she gone because I hate the thought of her still being her? Please

Hi Coral, I believe Gemma is still there at the moment - but I’m not sure what the applicant situation is with her. Best to give the home a call directly tomorrow and they can give you the most up to date info. Good luck!

I had the pleasure of taking Gemma out for a walk this morning. She is really lovely company. Loves walking and loves a fuss. I really enjoyed spending time with her.
Gemma is very charismatic with a beautiful face. She will make someone a lovely pet. A very loving dog.

I understand Gemma has found a home? I'm really pleased but disappointed a little too, as I've dragged my heels and should have pushed to meet her myself! I home all parties are happy. I'll keep an eye on the website for another but it may take time!!
