Please whisper a very gentle welcome to Max This lovely boy is 8 years old, and he is very bewildered at his recent change of circumstances. Max is clearly missing his family very much. Shar peis are renowned for being intelligent, stubborn, and utterly devoted to their family. As no-one has come forward to claim Max it seems his owner isn't missing him as much as he is clearly missing them Miss Lesley took Max for a gentle 'getting to know you' walk, and Max was happy to have found a Friend. He was content just to be near her as he tried to take in his new surroundings. Max was a little camera shy, so we set a long zoom and gave him plenty of space, and we soon saw those wrinkles relax a bit! Time for another trot around the field Max! This time we took Bas, our resident steady 'welcomer', and Max was happy to trot alongside in quiet companionship Faithful and devoted dogs like Max can sometimes struggle when they have lost their beloved family. Max is still grieving for his owners, but with time and patience he will learn to love again. He gave Lesley some 'thank you' kisses on her hand, and went quietly back to his kennel. If you'd like to meet Max please contact NEWPORT CITY DOGS HOME TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.

I walked Max at Newport on the weekend and we had a nice leisurely walk letting him sniff everything he saw. He is very well behaved in general and on the lead. He loves having his back and hips massaged - think he would let you do this all day!! He is quite clearly missing his family and likes to check that you are still there when walking but he is a genuinely very lovely dog and would make a wonderful pet for someone. Hope he doesn't have to wait too long for his forever home as he deserves it so much

I’m looking for a friend for my five-year-old Cavalier King Charles bitch Rosie. She’s a fun loving, adventurous and active little dog who loves all of their animals and people. I sometimes work long hours so I’m looking for some company for her, she has plenty of space and is well loved and cared for and enjoys long walks and quiet time. If you have a dog that could be a good friend to Rosie and me please be in touch. Thank you Admin Note: Hi and thanks for posting. We have edited out your contact details as this is a public forum and we don't recommend people post personal details. If you are interested in adopting a dog from Cardiff Dogs Home or Newport City Dogs Home details on how to apply are at the foot of each dog's rehoming thread. Hope this helps

Max has settled in very well and is such a loving boy. We have been on lots of walks and even to the beach, he refused to go near the water though!! He enjoys lying on the sofa and roaming around the garden. We are all very happy. He says thank you to everyone at Newport Dogs Home for looking after him during his time there. Here are some pictures of him, as you can see he has made himself feel right at home.
