Oh Abi Moonpie
Abi Moonpie arrived at Newport City Dogs Home is a very distressed condition. She was frightened and very bewildered at her sudden change of circumstances, and was clearly pining for her owner. Shar peis are renowned for being one of the most faithful and loyal dogs, they don't give it away easily, and it took a little while for Moonpie to understand that she had been abandoned, that her owners weren't going to come to take her home. She grieved piteously for a week.
But the fabulous volunteer walkers at Newport City Dogs Home took it very slowly with her, didn't demand anything from her, and their patience has been rewarded in buckets! Abi Moonpie is the most affectionate girl in kennels now!
She adores Mr Neil, and isn't afraid to show it!
And she has become happy, relaxed and confident around visitors to the centre, which is a testament to all the volunteers at Newport, who have spent so much time with her.
Moonpie is, without a doubt, the kissiest girl we have met for a verrrrry long time, and her favourite Auntie, Miss Lesley, is always happy to take one for the team
Oh Abi Moonpie! Tongues? Really?
Yes really!
Although we don't know anything about Moonpie's past, we have great hopes for her future! She has been bombproof around her fellow residents, and always enjoys stepping out with her buddies. She is gentle, kind, and has the most gentle disposition.
If you've never meet a wrinkly-faced dog, come and get a kiss from Moonpie. You'll be smitten!
