I'm just going to leave these pictures here.....
Annnnnd breathe
So, Missy greeted us at Newport City Dogs Home today when we arrived to walk the dogs, chat with rehomers, and do what we do. She has been signed over by her owners, and apart from that we really don't know an awful lot about her. We're told she is a Chow Chow / lab mix, and that she is about 4-5 months old. Judging by her razor sharp little baby teeth, we would guess she is nearer four months than five...
She's friendly and playful, but like all spitz type dogs she doesn't tolerate the heat very well, so we kept her playdate short and sweet and made sure there were plenty of water bowls around to help keep her cool and hydrated
Missy is pretty as a picture...
and as kissy and comfortable around humans and dogs as any well socialised puppy should be!
So, if you'd like meet Missy with a view to giving her a forever home, please read the following verrrrrry carefully! It's never 'first come first served' and as Missy has already been given up once already despite her tender age, the staff will want to ensure that her new family will be keepers!
Before the staff will consider taking an application form, potential rehomers will need to provide.....
1. A vet reference, to evidence that they own, or have previously owned a dog, that their dog is or was neutered, regularly vaccinated, AND that the dog was insured or other steps were taken to ensure sufficient financial resources such that their dog received timely and appropriate veterinary care in the event of accident, illness or disease.
2. Landlord's permission - if applicable. If you are a home owner please bring a recent mortgage statement, if you live in rented accommodation please bring a copy of your lease and written permission from your landlord that you are able to have a dog in the property.
3. A grooming reference. This will be mandatory for all applicants who are interested in adopting Missy. Her luxurious coat will not look after itself. Chow mixes have very high maintenance coats, and this can present a high financial burden on owners.
If you don't want to spend half an hour a day doing this.....
.... and paying for regular visits to a groomer to keep your dogs coat in tip top condition, please choose a pet with a low maintenance coat. It is a crime against nature to allow a spitz coat to become so matted it needs to be clipped, and only applicants who can evidence that they have previously owned a dog with a high maintenance coat will be considered.
Because she's worth it
If you'd like to meet Missy pop up to Newport City Dogs Home! TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays, and please remember to bring your supporting documents.
It will be a condition of rehoming that she is spayed as soon as she is old enough, and a free neuter voucher is included in the adoption fee.
