Watch out - Zizi's about
This little live-wire was brought in by a member of the public who said they found her straying. That doesn't mean she doesn't have an owner, but as no-one has come forward to claim her she has clearly been abandoned to her fate. It's very likely given her age that she was another 'Christmas Puppy'. She would have been around 8 weeks old at Christmas, a beautiful little puppy with her whole life ahead of her. But 5 months later she is homeless. Whoever bred her, AND whoever bought her should hang their heads in shame. Nice little earner for whoever bred her, and a novelty that soon wore off for whoever bought her
Zizi doesn't seem in the least bit bothered by her recent change of circumstances though. She is as happy as the day is long!
She has a blast in the sensory garden, and we let her run off some of her boundless energy before we put her through her paces to see how much effort her previous owner has put into her training
Sadly for Zizi, it seems she hasn't actually learnt a lot about being a model doggy citizen. There is absolutely no badness in her, but she lacks impulse control and can be a little 'mouthy'. We have walked her with other dogs, and although she seems to want to make friends she doesn't really seem to know how to. Whoever adopts Zizi is going to have to start from scratch with her training and socialisation.
The good news is Zizi is verrrrrrry bright, and is learning very quickly! In the short time we had her in the garden, it didn't take her long to understand that the ONLY way to get treats or a fuss was to keep her four paws on the floor.
Clever girl Zizi!
She will definitely need a kind and patient home and as she has lots of early learning to make up for, someone with the time and energy to help her become the fabulous adult dog she is destined to be.
For more information or if you'd like to meet Zizi please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm.
