Oh Darla - you ARE a pretty girl As Darla arrived as a stray, we have no idea about her breed mix! She looks a little bit houndy, maybe pointery, and her stunning coat which is predominately black and tan could indicate that her mamma (or pappa) had a wild night out with a dobie, but it really is anyone's guess! Darla is just a youngster, and has probably not reached her full adult weight/size yet. She is a little bit on the back paw with her training, and we don't think she's had many (or any) opportunities for playdates with other dogs, and Darla gets verrrrrrry excited to see other dogs. So we will be helping her learn to say 'hello' nicely to some of her kennel buddies over the next week or so. Lots to look forward to eh Darla? Darla was a tiny bit excited and snatchy when we put her through her paces, but she is a very bright young dog, and soon got the hang of 'sit' and taking treats gently... her back to basics training is going to be a work in progress, but all eminently doable, as Darla is a clever cookie and very treat focussed, so teaching her new things will be a doddle! Black and tan dogs can overheat very quickly in warm weather, so we left Darla's photo opportunity until late afternoon, and she was quite happy to trot around the garden With the occasional burst of puppy energy Darla knows how important it is to stay hydrated though! If you'd like to meet Darla pop up to Newport City Dogs Home! TEL 01633 290 902 between 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm, on weekdays, 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 3.30pm on Saturday. Please note: the home is CLOSED on Sundays. Rehoming fees are from £120 depending on the age/breed of the dog, and include 1st vaccination, flea & worm treatment and neutering.

Darla was finding life in kennels pretty tough. She is young and very lively, and with no rehoming offers on the table the staff and volunteers were delighted when our good friends at the Dogs Trust offered to take Darla into their tender care. We will be following Darla's rehoming journey and although we will miss her very much we couldn't be happier for her! Team DT have promised us they will take good care of her! Good luck Darla
