If you are planning a holiday and don't want to pay kennelling fees, then why not take your dog(s) with you. There are many hotels that accept dogs. They either charge a small fee or some are free. Hilton Hotels, Best Western, Travelodge all take dogs (at the managers discretion). I took my little dog to Wiltshire recently and stayed at Wellhouse Manor in Melksham. Not only was my little dog welcomed with open arms, he was provided with a dog bed and feeding bowls. Basically they couldn't do enough for him. Plus he had loads of fusses off the staff. Also there are many campsites where dogs can enjoy a nice break with you. If you know of any other hotels, rentals, guest houses etc perhaps you could post them up. The more info the better

I have just come Back from St Ives in Cornwall and it's so dog friendly. Shops and restaurants all allow our furry friends to visit and there is plenty of dog friendly accommodation there to suit all needs x

Cornwall is a fantastic place to holiday with your dog(s)
All of Rick Stein's hotels in Padstow make dogs really welcome, as do all the pubs and most of the shops. There are a lot of cottages you can rent in the town (HarbourHolidays/Padstow Cottage Company/Cornish Horizons/ColeRayment and White) which welcome dogs.
The Gurnard's Head, between St Ives and Penzance, is a fab restaurant with rooms which welcomes dogs - they can eat with you in the bar area too. They have a huge garden behind the pub which is ideal for dogs and there are loads of walks nearby. The same people own the Old Coastguard at Mousehole and the FelinFach Griffin near Brecon, both of which are dog friendly. Incidentally, the food is fab in all.
The Dogs Trust has a list of dog-friendly cottages on its website. It's a UK-wide list and there are some lovely places on there

Unfortunately I have to put my dog into kennels for 2 weeks in September - can anyone recommend boarding kennels? Thanks! Gedrys Boarding Kennels LINK - I've never used them myself, but I've only ever heard good things about them! Becky1 has used Pentyrch Boarding kennels and speaks very highly of them! LINKFirst time I've looked at their website actually, looks like an amazing place!

I'm thinking the same, I've have never had to put my dogs in kennels as family have always stepped in but we are going away September, for just 1 week and think I may have to look at other options, am stressing about it already so any recommendations would be great, will have a look at above links now x

I've used Gedrys a few times now and I am confident that my dogs are well looked after when there. Only heard fantastic things about Pentyrch too though.

Going back to Dog Friendly hols though I highly recommend Caer Beris in the Wye valley. They are extremely happy to welcome four legged friends and have beautiful grounds to explore too www.caerberis.com/

Cornwall was very welcoming of us with Ava in tow. So much so we are taking her again this may, can't wait. Plenty of water bowls outside shops and people who wanted to give her biscuits etc. and cafes/restaurants which were happy to allow us to sit indoors or out with her. Now don't any one take this the wrong way, as you all know how much I adore her and her breed, but I was pleasantly surprised by how welcome we were with Ava at every place we visited as after all she is a rottie and many people have a bad opinion of the breed.
As for kennels, We have used Huntshill in Penhow for the last 20 years and can highly recommend them.
