Please give a gentle welcome to Baxter! We took Baxter into the vet room for a cuddle and some attention, and he was a very gentle and sweet boy. Baxter is very confused at his new surroundings, and didn't show much interest in any toys or treats. He did lap up some attention from Charlotte though, and a gentle hand is all he needs to help him feel safe. Baxter has found himself in kennels after being picked up as a stray, so we don't know much about him except that he's a very bewildered boy at the moment. He's quite shy in his kennel but will pop out to give you a sniff, and he just needs some TLC to give him some confidence while he adapts to his new surroundings. Good luck Baxter, you're already stealing some hearts so I'm sure you won't be waiting long for a forever home ❤️ If Baxter's owners don't come forward to claim him, he will be available for rehoming from the 14th December. If you would like more information on Baxter please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm For more information about the rehoming process at Cardiff Dogs Home, please click on the link below: friendsofcardiffdogs.proboards.com/thread/5880/guide-adoption-procedures

Hi. Is he still waiting for a home? Can he live with children ? Hi Michelle. baxter was still there today but you should call the home and speak to staff to find out the latest on him. Your children would need to meet him so you should bring them down. Staff will be able to advise you best. Give them a call on 02920711243 x

Hi. We wanted to take Baxter for a walk. But they told Us that Baxter can't live with children under 13. My son is 10. That's very sad news for Us.

Hi Michelle
Generally the staff try to assess each individual dog's temperament, training needs, etc, and then profile the sort of home that they feel would most suit that particular dog. It can be very disappointing for some potential forever families, but please be assured that the staff have both the interests of the dog and the family at heart.
Baxter hasn't been well recently, he is currently at the vets having some exploratory scans. It's possible that if he has been feeling poorly this has been manifested in his behaviour, which could be why the staff are being uber-cautious.
Don't be put off, if Baxter isn't the one for you it could just be that you haven't yet met the dog who is destined to spend the rest of his life with you and your family. Please keep looking, the dog who needs you most will find you x

Had the pleasure of Baxters company today. Baxter is strong on the lead and loves to sniff everywhere, he is a gent passing people and dogs, no reaction at all. Through our walk Baxter stopped and took a look over the river, other than that he loves to keep going. Can't believe you are still waiting for your forever home sweetie.

Took lovely Baxter out for a nice, long walk today. This dog is lovely, pulled a bit down the lane but that is too be expected. He passed other dogs no problem, got chatting to a lady on grangemoor with an elderly golden retriever, and Baxter and the other dog ended up parallel walking up to the bay as we chatted, good boy Baxter! Baxter is a very gentle soul, with a big heart good luck lovely boy, everybody said how good looking you are, hope your not waiting too much longer xx
