Oh my.. this lad is a bit of a headturner! Everyone say a big hello to the lovely Max Max has found himself at CDH after being brought in by a member of the public. He was a bit sad in his kennel yesterday, and just sat at the front, letting out a howl every now and again. It must be very confusing for Max, who must be missing his family terribly. Don't worry Max, you're in safe hands now ❤️ We took this lovely boy out to the river for a break, and it didn't take long for him to show us his playful personality! Even though the swans were trying their luck with him, he paid no attention at all and simply plonked himself in the water and took in all the new sights and smells! We then gave Max the treat test, where he showcased his impeccable manners and soft mouth. This boy absolutely loves human company, and is patient and gentle when it comes to treats. On Saturday's menu was a bit of sausage, which he happily munched! It was such a change from the dog I saw in his kennel, who was too distressed to even pick up a treat off the floor. We also took Max into the vet room for a cuddle, just to give him some extra time away from his kennel. He was more than happy to tell us when he had enough though.. Well would you look at that, beauty AND brains! This boy is a gem of a dog, and it was so lovely to see him come out of his shell. If Max's owners don't come to claim him, he will be available for rehoming from 17th June. However, staff at the home will take applications now. If you would like more information on him please phone the Dogs' Home: 029 2071 1243 or visit Cardiff Dogs' Home, Westpoint Industrial Estate, Penarth Road, open 7 days a week, 10.30 - 4pm. Mon/Thurs till 6pm For more information about the rehoming process at Cardiff Dogs Home, please click on the link below: friendsofcardiffdogs.proboards.com/thread/5880/guide-adoption-procedures

Poor Max has come into Cardiff Dogs home completely bewildered. We didn't have any background history on him at all! We have however come across new relevent information from his previous owners If you are interested in Max here are some facts....... He is a 7 year old Alaskan Malamute, neutered and currently up to date with his vaccinations. He has lived with children varying from new born up until 16+ with no issues or problems at all. He is a vocal dog and if you listen close enough, you can hear him say "I love you" It will take some time to adapt M ax with other dogs, so if you do have a dog, a few introducions will need to take place. If you have cats, Max could be for you. In his previous home, he lived amongst 11 cats an was absolutely fine with no poblems! There is also no problems when it comes visitors. Max will only be seeking affection. And he will be there attempting to have a conversation with you. He is good on lead, however he sometimes will be quite inquisitive and take the slack out of the lead. He has so much love to give!! give this boy a chance and come give him a walk and see if your home could well be his forever home............

Every one of the lovely dog's that I take out for walkies are special, but yesterday Max stole my heart He is like a big teddy bear! Full of fluff! It was starting to get a bit warmer after starting out overcast so we just went for a quick walk down trail. Max, despite his size, is very good on the lead, only pulling a little bit if he could smell something interesting! As it was getting a bit warm, we sat down and had some water....this is when Max started talking! He seems to also wait to get a reply from you! He then got in close for cuddles ( melt ), he really is such a sweet, gentle teddy bear He did get a bit vocal around passing dogs, but I don't think there was any real aggression in it, just letting the other dog know that he was around! Max also loves the water and had a sneeky dip in the river to cool off, he jumped in right away, so if you are close to the river with Max, he will just go in for a dip no questions asked Can't sing his praises enough, he was a total gent! All Max want's is ( In the words of Freddie Mercury ) somebody to love xxxx

Out with my boy Max again today We had a bit longer today as it was overcast and quite cool, so I got to know this gentle giant a little bit more Well, what can I say, I enjoy all of my walks with the lovely CDH dog's, but, sometimes, one just steals your heart that little bit more Max is a big boy, he is strong, but very manageable and good on the lead, so after the hand over and the lovely greeting Max gave me, we set off on our travels. Right, some people who have walked Max will know that he talks to you, we got to the bottom of the lane and the conversation got into a good old chin wag! He even say's ' I love you! ', just make sure you talk back to Max, he loves a good chat! We got down to the Ely trail and the river, and, like last time, Max went right into the water. He loves a good dip, and even puts his nose in the water to blow bubbles! He might even talk while doing so After having his paddle ( the water was very low today and Max is so tall, it was really a paddle rather than a swim ) we went to have a sit down on the bench, and Max decided to sit down next to my feet, we had a little cuddle and he very almost went to sleep, until another passing dog got his attention! Max does get quite vocal around other dog's, but he is a very vocal dog anyhow, and I really think it's a slightly OTT Malamute ' Hello '. Max not only speaks, he also gives kisses on command, and then he tells you that he loves you, that, together with his affectionate nature and teddy bear cuddles, is just enough to steal your heart Really look forward to walking lovely Max again, remember ' I wove yoooooooooo! ' xxxxx

So first walk of the day with Mad Max this morning, he is a big boy and very strong but after an initial pull down the lane he soon settled into a good steady pace. What a handsome fella this is, sort of like walking a puffball with muscle , super attractive markings and lovely temperament. As other walkers have all said, he really does talk to you which is very funny and endearing, however he is quite vocal around other dogs and we found it easier to move aside and let them pass. He really wants to say hello, but that can look a little intimidating to other owners when you are Max sized! We hadn't walked too far, just through Grangemoor park but the weather was walming so stopped for a drink, and Max was really up for a good old cuddle, he really does love people. Cut through to Tesco at the marina and as we got there Max decided he wanted a break... So sat watching the walkers, joggers etc on the bridge, then he felt the need to lie down... It was quite walm now, so to the amusement of all passers bye he did a rug impression lying flat out .... That's a lot of dog!! He has a twinkle in his eye, I'm sure he was laughing too. Turned back for home now and Max was walking alongside us happy to stroll. I don't think he is a long distance dog, but regular short walks will keep him happy All in all a real character, full of love and affection ( and fur! ) I can see why so many love him, it really is hard not too!
